We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Myles Moore. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Myles below.
Myles, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What sort of legacy are you hoping to build. What do you think people will say about you after you are gone, what do you hope to be remembered for?
SWAT to the TOP!
I want my name to ring bells. I want to be respected in my craft. But mostly, I want to inspire the creatives in Alief, Texas. We are one of a kind, the best in the land! We have the most beautiful, creative, diverse, passionate, ambitious people in the land. I would love for my legacy to be to create Alief Hollywood. I want to build a platform that allows all talents to shine, from performers, writers, videographers and editors, and set designers. Outside of Texas, we’ll have people looking to Alief like they do to Hollywood. Through this endeavor, I want to engage the local community by providing jobs for residents and spaces for kids to grow in creative areas. As a black man from Selma, Alabama by way of Alief, Texas, this interview means so much. If I can show the world my success, it’ll open others’ eyes to do the same. I want to use every opportunity to give back to my community. That’s how I know my love for Alief runs deep.

Myles, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Well, let me introduce myself. I’m Big Myles from Alief, Texas. I created a Saturday Night Live in my backyard. I am a laidback, cool, calm, and collected guy who likes being around positive people. I’m not a laugh out loud person, but I’m always laughing in my head, studying the comedy. I write, act, film, and edit comedy skits that will bring a smile to your face. Even as a child, I’ve always had the comedy bug. Instead of watching cartoons, I was watching Sanford & Sons. And I’ve always gravitated towards other funny people. But honestly, I take comedy seriously and I always put forth my best effort to produce top quality videos. Learning to rely on yourself teaches you how to believe in yourself. You can’t always rely on other people; Self-discipline is so important for success. Not only in scheduling and planning ahead for any hiccups, but knowing yourself, your weaknesses and your strengths. I’m building my platform from the ground up and learning along the way. I want to build a foundation that brings others up to the top with me and creates a space for laughter.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I will make Clowning Down South a household name, having a show that will rank amongst the funniest ever. Creating these videos will open up so many doors that will lead to bigger opportunities. I see the dream. I feel like, through what I am doing, I can reach all my goals in life and then some. I can build a foundation for my family that will last for generations. And beyond that, I want to see bigger and better opportunities for Alief, Texas and the surrounding areas. More life in the community, fire and hope in children’s eyes. Education is key. I want influential people to come to Alief and see who we are and what we have to offer. By exposing the kids to career options that might otherwise seem unrealistic, we can open them up to a whole new world.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Envisioning something in your mind and then having the skills to make it come to life is so rewarding. And then to watch people’s reactions is priceless. You become an inspiration to others. It wasn’t east getting in front of the camera, but I had to work with what I had. I’m a humble guy, but you have to have so much confidence that people might mistake it for arrogance. But they don’t know the journey and the process it took just to kick off Clowning Down South. Any project of mine that people will lay eyes on, has to be perfect. Everyone has dreams and goals they hope to accomplish but often aren’t making any moves to make them happen. I encourage everyone I know to pursue their goals no matter what anyone thinks. Knowing that I’m doing everything I can to achieve my goals is one of the most rewarding things about being a creator. You shouldn’t care what people think. Life is short and unexpected. Don’t let everyday living consume you so entirely that you don’t have time to reach for your goals.
