We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Myles McGregor a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Myles thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
I knew I needed to find a way to generate capital to continue funding my music career after I was blessed enough to have a distribution deal after attending The University of Miami for two semesters.
I decided to move back to Charlotte when the pandemic took place and that as when I saw the need for concierge services.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I always thank God for my ability to obtain D1 scholarships because I know the percentages are extremely low. During my high school days leading to college I was blessed to not only have discipline but see discipline in my house hold having both my parents very present. I learned quick that the skills and tools I learn through basketball will begin to transcend into problem solving in the real world. The business idea was kind of like a light bulb because it truly had to be God. I have never been in concierge service let alone a true job. So when the opportunity presented itself for me to start this path I figured I should get started now, rather than later.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
What a lot of people don’t know is that Charlotte Immaculate is my second business I have ever created. I started my first business while still a student athlete at the university of Miami. “Nasty Auto Spa” it is currently still up and running and fully operated now by my business partner at the time Mr. Andy Gonzalez. He believed in me at a time when I knew nothing about business but was eager to learn and I wish I could let him know I am forever grateful.
Have you ever had to pivot?
So Everyone knows me for my relationship with Hugh McColl here in Charlotte Nc, and everyone always asks how I not only got so close with him but am able to drive him on a day to day basis and have him as an advisor/investor for our business.
I owe all that thanks to Malcomb Coley who put me in contact with Hugh McColl. I had done a couple of successful trips for Malcomb up and down the east coast transporting wine. So the trust had been built and then was left for me to make the connect.
Also, the wine I was transporting for Mr. Malcomb was over $100,000 dollars worth, so once I got that info I realize I definitely earned his trust.
