Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Mykeisha Ross. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Mykeisha, appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
Taking Risk- Who told you that you Qualified?
Many times in the world. We just want a chance in life. A chance to be the change we wish to see.Chance at Freedom and not to be caged. So, for me I always asked myself what can I do to help my community and my family. I always felt that the world was unwelcoming and unequal but never really thought that my community was so unwelcoming. Learning from my mistakes and learning from my Mayoral Campaign. The worst mistake I’ve ever made in my entire life was running for Mayor.
Since I ran for Mayor my entire community,my family, the commissioners and some Elders in the community have told me I should have never made that move. Not ever asking why I ran. Not offering any advice or guidance. Not having the support from anyone. Literally after living and serving my community my entire life.
So, the biggest risk and the biggest mistake I have ever made was caring so much for my community that I lost everything. Coming from a dysfunctional unhealthy insane unstable family environment. I began teaching myself Art. The only way I could get my feelings out was on a blank canvas. So my Art is an expression of my emotions and pains. The Art of my Lens comes from the Traumatic Experience of my life and childhood. I painted and drew so people could see what really happened and learned that I’m a truth seeker who only wants the truth to be revealed. So, because I’ve been told to shut-up,stay in a child’s place, stay in your lane. I’ve even received threats and been incarcerated for my truthfulness.
The pictures I display are pictures of events that are horrific and terrible but the words and the images you see are the things that happens all across the world and people are still sweeping it underneath the rug.
Please take a moment and review the details of my Artwork. All across the world we as women are being held hostage, abused, neglected, rejected, abandoned and always suffering from mental health because we are told that we are unable or incapable because we are not men and this is a man’s world. How do they lift up our women with one hand and abuse women with the other hand.
Taking a Risk, disrupting the systems of the world has caused a lot of harm in my life. All the people who you think are for you will disappear.
Children are not being taught Love in this Generation and we are worrying why the bad behavior is being displayed. The Elders, the churches, the schools and the government are missing one big thing. They are missing accountability and ownership for their actions. The people are missing vision, imagination and youthfulness therefore our community needs will remain unstable.
Being a risk taker and being an Artist are the only way I MYKEISHA ROSS can be in my life. My Ancestors have led me to believe it was not in vain no matter what the outcome was and that I now have to focus on the future.
So, I invite women who have been overlooked, unappreciated, unvalued and unloved to join me for a Women Empowerment Accountability Community. We meet every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for 1 hour.Setting Goals and Expectations to Achieve in our Business and Personal Development Goals for our community of Women to have a safe haven.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
Growing up society has taught us only what they want us to know. My new motto this year is,” We help you remove the Crabs out your bucket .” Meaning remove the people in your circle before they remove you.
I’ve had to learn most people have their own motives. Keep your emotions out of it or you will be disappointed.
Unlearning what I have been taught my entire life has been difficult. Coming from a dysfunctional household who showed no love, you have no role model and you have no idea who you are and what you’re worth. Especially coming home everyday to be raped by your siblings or always having to defend yourself against your own family members.
I’ve had to overcome the trauma and impoverishment mindset that controls the stress of this world. I became so my children can become the best version of themselves and never have to worry about lack.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Today I rise!
Everyday I’m being reminded that I shouldn’t have ran for Mayor. But every day I have to get up to fight another day. Because God has brought me to far to leave me now. So I paint or draw what I’m feeling or I sing so I can release all the pain that has been affecting my soul. I’ve screamed out many times as a little girl and now as a 35 year old Mother. Help! But still no one sees me or either are they listening.
