Alright, Myka thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your creative career sooner or later?

I kind of do feel like I could’ve started earlier or been more proactive when I did start. I’ve been doing music since 2019.

I was in a place of feeling too stagnant in my 9-5 and I knew I wanted and still want more out of life. I want my craft to pay the bills and open doors for my other creative outlets as well.

I feel if I would’ve started earlier I could have built an audience from like people in high school and things like that.

Myka , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

I’m Koshia, 27, Aries from Fayetteville, NC currently residing in Houston, TX. I sing, rap, make beats, etc. I’ve always been interested in music and more so poetry as I was coming up. My sound varies but it’s mainly melodic r&b and rap. I don’t want to place myself in one category of music so I dabble in everything. I create by myself for the most part. I’m a bit antisocial but I’ve been to the studio a couple times.
I use GarageBand on my iPad to create beats and record myself. I want to venture out this year and work with different producers, engineers and artist to elevate my work.
I’d say I’m most proud of my consistency and maintaining my individuality while not being pressured by other people progress and following my own timeline.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?

Like my last album was titled “I wanna see different things” that is the goal. I want to get the most out of life for me and my family. I want my creative journey to open doors. Whether it be in front of or behind the music industry or fashion and art.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?

The most rewarding part to me is being able to paint my own picture. Self-expression and originality always wins.
