We were lucky to catch up with Mychal Reeves recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Mychal thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
Really easy story to tell, Crafty Pynk Scorpion originated from my love for art and it’s creative process.
Crafty, I grew up with a mom who made greeting cards, jewelry, and always diy’d her way thru holidays like Christmas and Easter by creating door hangings, baskets, table decor and gifts for my brother and I.Pynk is for my godmother who passed away from Breast Cancer in 2010.. Scorpion, for my zodiac sign Scorpio.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m Mychal, originally from Anderson, SC but currently reside in Jacksonville, Fl.
I specialize in all the Handmade Glitter Tumblers, and as of November 2022 I’ve become a Tumbler instructor, teaching how to make these pieces of art.
I grew up creating with my mom as a kid. In high school I took fashion design, and went into college to study the same.
In 2015 I was promoted at my job and I decided to take a break from clothing design to focus on my new corporate role.
Mental health what got me into tumblers. Work started to become stressful, and depression started to sink in and I wanted a creative outlet to relieve me of those day to day stresses.
In 2017 I went down this rabbit hole on YouTube of decorative wine glasses, and I thought hmmmmm think I can make these. I went out and bought supplies and got my tumbler journey started.
My goal is to share with my supporters how to work through those things thru art, and how it makes you feel. It brings me joy to hear others stories on how they’ve worked through stress and depression through art
In 2018 we officially became “Crafty Pynk Scorpion”.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
My biggest lesson has been to not compare myself to other artists. As artist/creatives we tend to look at others in our specific fields and ask the questions “why not me?”, ”what are they doing that I’m not doing?” or “I wish that was me”.
I realized that those things that I saw others accomplishing were either not for me, or not for me YET! So I worked with my mentor (Mayra) to help me develop a plan and goals to achieve the things I wanted.
With time, patience, focus, and continuously developing my skill I started to accomplish the goals I had set for myself.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Be as active as possible, go live sharing your process, tell your story “who are you”, and record EVERYTHING.
