We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Mycah Bain. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Mycah below.
Mycah, appreciate you joining us today. Owning a business isn’t always glamorous and so most business owners we’ve connected with have shared that on tough days they sometimes wonder what it would have been like to have just had a regular job instead of all the responsibility of running a business. Have you ever felt that way?
Yes I LOVE being a business owner! Yes, it is a lot of work and you need to stay motivated but that’s a lot of what I love about it. Sure the hours can be long, and vacation or sick time is unpaid, but I love the freedom and flexibility and ability to be creative!
Mycah, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My JOY is creating an empowering photo experience for people! I love creating for business and brands, capturing the love of weddings and elopements, and creative portrait sessions. I’m based in Minneapolis and travel multiple a times a month all around the country and world. I believe I create an incredible experience for all of my clients from the prep, the photo experience and the final product. I absolutely LOVE what I do, and I love people so it’s always a delight,
When I’m not taking photos, I love traveling the world, spending time outside, living the auntie life, running, yoga, reading, kombucha, trying new delicious foods, and happy hour with my besties.
After over a dozen years in the industry I know all the tips and tricks to make my clients feel like a complete natural in front of the camera. I’ll the ultimate hype woman guide the entire photo experience so every person walks away feeling empowered.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
My goal with each client is to have them walk away raving about their experience with me before they have even seen a single photo. I want each person to feel seen and valued, and when people have an experience like this, they can’t help but spread the word to their people!
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
I connect with my clients over social media, send them texts when I think about then, and invite them into my life. This desire for connection is because I truly love my people, not with an ulterior motive, which I think keeps it authentic and that drives people to want to spread the word :)
