We were lucky to catch up with Mya Westray recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Mya thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What was it like going from idea to execution? Can you share some of the backstory and some of the major steps or milestones?
Taking an idea from thought to execution requires drive, dedication and commitment in yourself and believing that you can succeed. In my world, “can’t” is a bad word. I spend every day trying to further my business via networking and identifying ways to expand my products and services. Collaborating with various artists, photographers and other entrepreneurs has benefited me in unimaginable ways. I remain positive and don’t allow my failures to dictate my story.
I see challenges as an opportunity to better myself and help uplift others by sharing my experiences. I’m grateful and blessed every day to be doing what I love while executing my goals and dreams of furthering my business and brand.
Mya , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Mya and I am an entrepreneur from Maryland that specializes in providing beauty products and services to clients in the DMV area. I have always loved the artistic way in which makeup can be used to enhance beauty, boost self-esteem, and help to create positive energy by making people feel good about themselves. Being passionate about your craft and disciplining yourself to focus in on your dreams is what will make you successful. Avoiding negativity and distractions that aren’t good for you will allow you to be your greatest self.
The Pink Beauty Bar is focused on creating that positive space where clients can come to enhance their beauty – both inside and out. We create a relaxing and pampering environment that allows the customer to not only look luxurious, but feel luxurious at the same time!
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I’ve built an audience on social media through networking and collaborating with photographers, videographers, and other beauticians. I constantly post my work for people to view on various social media platforms.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best sources of new clients stems from word of mouth, my quality of work and by providing excellent customer service in a professional and clean environment. I also continue to build relationships and network with other diverse business owners.
