We were lucky to catch up with Muznah Fawad recently and have shared our conversation below.

Muznah , appreciate you joining us today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?

As someone who was raised by a single mother, I take every opportunity to celebrate her influence on my life, because my story simply can’t be told without the woman who shaped my personality, gave me my name, and, if I might add, my good looks. Growing up in a Pakistani household, I often faced criticism for my creative inclinations, since the norm for many was to aim for traditional, prestigious careers—doctor, lawyer, or another high-profile profession. Yet, even though I excelled academically and matched my classmates’ top grades, I felt a pull toward different paths.

Over time, I experimented with various fields, from fashion design to economics, gradually realizing that my true passion lay beyond the conventional. Financial limitations certainly existed, but my mother always stood by me, encouraging me to pick up a paintbrush or delve into books, whichever spark of curiosity called to me at the time. Her unwavering support allowed me to discover my interests without fear of judgment or failure. Reflecting on the countless moments when I pivoted in my studies, I’m profoundly grateful for her openness and flexibility—qualities that, in my eyes, define exceptional parenting.

She made sure to break free from the rigid and sometimes intimidating model of parenthood, choosing instead to be honest, approachable, and, above all, my best friend. Her guidance not only helped me navigate the ups and downs of my creative pursuits but also instilled in me the confidence to forge my own path in life. I sincerely believe that every parent can learn from her example: the value of nurturing a child’s dreams, offering support in trying times, and embracing the endless possibilities that come with exploration and self-expression.

my name is muznah, I’m a Pakistani content creator, residing in Houston Texas.
I launched my Instagram and TikTok accounts (@muzonfilm) at the urging of a close friend who insisted I share my tried-and-true hair tips. She saw something in me—an innate passion for hairstyling and product knowledge—so I jumped on the opportunity to produce content that would help others achieve their best hair. That initial spark of motivation led me to take things a step further by creating my very own hair care brand, @muzandmane. In fact, it’s coming out sooner than you might think, and I’m beyond thrilled for people to fall in love with it.

Outside of social media, I’m definitely a hard worker with a structured routine, and I genuinely enjoy the process of managing various aspects of my growing business. Whether it’s planning the perfect marketing strategy or overseeing production schedules, there’s a special satisfaction in seeing it all come together. Balancing my online presence with the behind-the-scenes grind is challenging at times, but it’s a challenge I wholeheartedly embrace. My hope is that @muzandmane reflects not just my passion for beautiful, healthy hair, but also the dedication and discipline I pour into every project I take on. I can’t wait to share it with the world and continue growing both my brand and my online community.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?

I started building my audience on social media somewhat spontaneously. One of my first big hits was a playful video in which I snuck into my sister’s room to “borrow” her hair tool—an impromptu moment I captured on camera. Surprisingly, people really connected with that lighthearted humor and authenticity, and the clip gained a massive amount of views in a single day. Another significant milestone was entering a giveaway hosted by James Charles in 2024; when people recognized me from that contest, they began following my journey. It gave me a little boost of confidence and made me feel like I was finally on the map.

For those just starting to build a social media presence, my biggest piece of advice is to be genuine and consistent. Share the aspects of your life that feel most natural, because audiences respond to sincerity and relatability. At the same time, keep posting regularly—whether you’re sharing hair tutorials, makeup looks, or everyday adventures—so people always have a reason to come back. Don’t shy away from lighter, behind-the-scenes content either; sometimes it’s those personal, fun moments that truly capture an audience’s heart. And, of course, engage with your followers. Respond to comments, ask for their feedback, and create a real sense of community. The more you show that you value their input and appreciate their support, the stronger your bond with your audience will become.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?

Absolutely. One of the main forces behind my creative journey is a deep commitment to education and charitable work. As someone who faced significant challenges on my own path, I feel a personal responsibility to make education accessible for everyone—regardless of their background or circumstances. I’m especially driven to support individuals in war-torn regions like Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria, since those communities often have the greatest need and the fewest resources.

My goal is to use my platform and my hard work to give back in a meaningful way, because I remember what it’s like to be someone who needs assistance but doesn’t always know where to find it. By channeling my creativity into projects and initiatives that champion education, I hope to empower others to pursue their dreams and build better lives for themselves and their families. Through this mission, I’m not just creating content; I’m striving to create lasting change.
