We caught up with the brilliant and insightful MUSZ a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
MUSZ, appreciate you joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
As the founders of MUSZ, Salih Zeki Sayar & Murat Sener have different business backgrounds. Salih Zeki started his career in the finance sector. During his twenty-year career in finance, he also attended sculpture, photography and ceramic workshops. Murat worked in the advertising sector as a copy writer and creative director. When they met at some point in their careers, they both decided to join their creative forces to make their dreams come true.
Murat wanted to carry his creative experiences to a point where he was more involved in the production process as an artist. Salih Zeki, on the other hand, decided to get rid of the monotonous world of financial reports and embark on an exciting adventure with mud so that he can get his hands dirty.
In this journey, they established MUSZ brand, which designs and manufactures items used in all areas of our daily life, as well as ceramics.

MUSZ, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
MUSZ is a contemporary brand transforms materials to stylish yet practical pieces. Our raw materials are cotton, silk, clay, love and passion. Moments in our lives shape our designs, and colors are inspired by memories and feelings. All our products are handmade through a creative and sustainable production process. Our core values are naturelness, diversity and casual chic that reflecting our true, smart, stylish and fun personality.
Our starting point was to create affordable artistic products that people feel related to. Whether the materials we use are mud, linen or cotton fabric, we aim to make each material natural and have a detail that makes people’s lives special.
We reflect different aesthetic understandings to our works, combining our rich cultural heritage with contemporary style.
At every stage of the production, we add our personal experiences and memories we had throughout of our lives. The blue color of a favorite toy that has a place in our childhood comes to life again in our ceramic bowl. An image that stays in our minds from a book we read becomes a pattern of the clothes. We embroider on the corner of our handmade napkin the excitement we felt when playing snowballs.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
We are all buried in our own worlds and our communication with our environment is carried out only through social media. This has positive and negative sides. The relationship between the artist and the society should be much closer to each other. It is an irreplaceable experience to feel the softness of a fabric by touching it, to perceive a bowl by grabbing it, to see how it transmits light by holding a porcelain product to the sun.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
It’s the process of making the imaginery into reality, turning a vision into an object. It is also making these objects available to the audience to see and appreciate. It’s a reflection of our our understanding of art, of aesthetics, and experiences.
