Hi Murlande, thanks for joining us today. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.

One big risk I have taken is relocating to another state. To build a business from word of mouth and strangers. Also investing in myself by taking balloon
classes to work on my craft. It added more confidence in myself for my business. I was able to get acclimated to event planning and balloon decorations in North Carolina.

Murlande, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

I started Custom Creations by Murlande with family and friends doing events for them. Although I am a Nurse for the last 10 years, I spend most of my time,
figuring out new ways to propel my business. Custom Creations by Murlande I create unique sweet creations for every moment in event planning and custom balloon designs. Also, I just recently started with my business partner Custom Created Stays. Running two companies are so different but very difficult and they own way. Nonetheless, I have a family at home so it’s never easy for mom!

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?

However, I may use social media for new clients, but I also use word of mouth, email traffic or pop up shops has been a high expansion in my new clients. Also running advertisement has help extremely in growing new clients for my business. Another source is joining Facebook groups that specialize in your business has help as well with networking and collaborations.
