We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Muge Li. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Muge below.
Muge, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I started to want to pursue art when I was at school. I would like to spend most of my time on drawings. It lets me become creative and gives me inner peace. I can use my drawings to create a scene or story. One time, I asked myself what do you want to do in the future, I think I heard my heart says to be an artist.
Muge, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am an illustrator and designer who focuses on children’s illustrations, and editorial illustrations and graphic design. I especially like drawing for picture books. I liked drawings when I was a kid. Although I didn’t get a chance to start learning drawings, I decided to go to MFA to pursue my art dream. I love funny characters and quirky stories. I have finished several children’s picture books. And my debut picture book “What Really Happens at Night” will be published in Fall 2023 as an author/illustrator.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
I would like to see more art directors and brands to support new and original artists. I hope different styles of art can be used. It would help artists to find their own style instead of just learning from the arts which are trending.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I like to bring create cheerful illustrations which can bring joy to children and adults. I hope people who see my illustrations will laugh and feel happy.
