We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ms. Sandie Jae a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Ms. Sandie , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
I think the most meaningful project I have done to date are my Youth Takeover Holiday Bazaar. This event was near and dear to my heart because I was blessed to be able to connect with every high school in the school district which had taken me over 3 years to accomplish. In doing so, I had the pleasure of going to each school sharing the knowledge, skill and understanding of what it takes to plan an event. The students were thrilled and they made a huge impact at the event and it truly was a successful event.
Ms. Sandie , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Ms. Sandie Jae originally from Long Beach California is a mother, 8x published author, music enthusiast, recording artist, and philanthropist within her community and beyond. From a young age
she has always had a passion for music, hosting events, speaking and ultimately empowering the
community, especially the youth, through her bubbly and upbeat personality.
As founder and CEO of It’s All About You Talent Services a non-profit organization, her company specializes in “Mentoring Youth One Talent At A Time,” which is the company’s motto. She has spent more than 15 years developing healthy habits in how to care for and govern herself in the presence of children.
Always one to give back, Sandie Jae volunteers for major organizations, churches, and corporations.
Her passion for connecting with youth has created a positive dialogue and experience in the lives of
every family interaction. Her love for teaching and educating youth to excel in their talents whether
cooking, singing, acting, modeling, and so much more. This has been a lifelong process that will only
become more exceptional as time progresses.
With a heart for sharing her message delivered through her book, “My Mama Always
Told Me: Reflections of Childhood Trauma and Triumph,” in which stories are told of
dreadful situations that took place where sexual trauma and harassment took place in
her adolescents.
Sandie Jae speaks about encounters from childhood that were
terrifying and awful but the lessons taken from each encounter made her an
exceptional advocate and speaker on the particular topic. Each story is followed by
poetry that brings awareness and consciousness of how to recognize, react, and refer
to help in similar situations.
Sandie Jae is most proud of the persistent of conducting event to encourage and direct youth as well as writing books that are motivating and inspirational for kids of all ages.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding part of my brand is the ability to pivot and shift when things get difficult or challenging. I have had many instances where the planning and preparation that I wanted to take place didn’t fall in order and I have to adjust accordingly that is best for the business. Being a non-profit organization poses its own challenges especially when it comes to financial obligations. The ultimate goal is always to serve the youth in the community and second ensure the events we put on are successful in our eyes as a team. This is the most rewarding aspect of being a creative mentor.
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
There are plenty of resources I wish I known about earlier in my creative journey, but the biggest I would say is marketing to our target audience. This is a skill that should not go unlearned in any business! The ability to market and be productive in it is vitally important. Marketing is tremendously helpful when it comes to getting your business in front of the audience you are targeting to ensure the success of your brand. I wish I knew and developed this skill many years prior to starting my business.
