Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ms. Lee Williams. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Ms. Lee , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you share a story that illustrates an important or relevant lesson you learned in school
The most important lesson I learned while acquiring my undergraduate degree was to believe in myself! As a student leader, there were multiple places where I realized my self confidence was key! Sometimes I was reminded to be confident when I was competing a challenging organic chemistry 2 examination, or when I had to present with a group in my public speaking course. It may have also been when I was leading a group of students during freshman orientation or beginning a new student organization on campus. Each of these occasions inside or outside of the classroom reminded me if I believe in myself I can complete any task.
This lesson stuck with me because I am the oldest of four children and often felt pressure to do everything for others. Believing in myself reminded me when I participate in things I enjoy, helping others, coordinating student events, and excelling in my academics, I can serve others better and show up as my best self.
After completing my undergraduate degree, believing in myself allowed me to be comfortable taking risks, such as taking a gap year, applying for internships, taking the MCAT, working as a paraprofessional, driving with Lyft rideshare, traveling, attending conferences, and starting my own private organization.
Believing in myself has allowed me to walk into rooms I never expected and to has allowed my wildest dreams to come true. It gives me confidence to continue walking along my journey and see what else I can achieve.

Ms. Lee , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Ms. Lee Williams. I am an educator, musician, philanthropist, and event coordinator. I come from an excellent line of educators and have always been working with students as an instructors whether it was at a math and science summer camp, vacation bible school, or my tutoring services. I enjoy working with students who look like me to excel inside and outside of the classroom. Through my private organization, I am an Algebra Tutor and ACT prep instructor. I provide educational services, scholarships, and volunteer hours.
I relate to students who have test anxiety, and a desire to improve their studies and time management skills.
Additionally, I have been a musician since I was 10 years old. I play the viola and envision myself playing at weddings and coordinating open mic events in the near future to support and showcase independent talent.
Lastly, I have been a philanthropist since as long as I can remember. I enjoy giving back to others whether that is as a Girl Scout, a certified nurse assistant, a family friend, or sponsor. Coordinating community events such as blanket and sock drives, or city clean ups have been primary actions I take towards giving back.
I am most proud of myself for graduating with a bachelor’s and master’s degree, as well as, starting my private organization, ReachOut Resource Center, LLC.
I would want others to know it is important to persist towards your goals and never give up. Each new day, provides us with a new opportunity to try again.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
At year 3 I still consider my private organization a start up organization. My best source of clients has been word of mouth, collaboration with other businesses that have the same mission, and networking conferences or pop up shops.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson I had to unlearn is that planning will prevent mistakes. Planning is the main guide and template for executing ideas, however, as a recovering perfectionist I have learned sometimes things will still go wrong, and mistakes might be made.
And it is OKAY! It is all a part of the learning and growing process, it is okay to reevaluate, reassess and even rebrand when you notice it is time to pivot in your business.
