We were lucky to catch up with Mr. Muzix recently and have shared our conversation below.
Mr. Muzix, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your creative career sooner or later?
If I could go back in time, I would have definitely started my musical career earlier.
At the age of 19 I was faced with an intense choice; staying in college or chasing music. I recall siting outside of my freshman dorm on the phone crying to my mother; mentally, I felt trapped. I knew that my purpose in life was to make music, and I felt as if I was wasting life by being in college and not having the time and opportunities I wanted to develop myself musically. However, my mother was extremely persistent in me becoming a college graduate.
If I had the opportunity to go back in time, I would have chased my dreams immediately rather than trying to please my family. I constantly feel as though I would have been a lot more advanced in my craft if I did.
Mr. Muzix, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I go by MUZIX; and I am a musical artist out of Lithonia, GA. I write, produce, record, and engineer all of my material independently. Currently, I am preparing for a new project and will be hosting my very first event. With my music, my goal is to inspire and motivate others to chase their dreams and really use their gifts to better the world. I’d love to show the everyone that we can all be rockstars.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
The mission that drives my creative journey is the mission to serve as an example for others who have aspirations.
I am self-taught in all of my instruments but one, I taught myself how to engineer music and properly record it, and I don’t have a manager. Though these attributes are not necessarily desired, I currently work this way because I told myself that I wanted to be an artist. I would do whatever I needed to get where I would like; without the large need for financial support.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being an artists is the joy and emotion I can bring to others. In particular, I really enjoy it when others listen to my music and smile. The small benign smile listeners give when they are fully enjoying a song. This, along with being able to enjoy myself while performing, is absolutely the most rewarding aspect of my artistry.
