Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Mr. Darius L. Tigner-Jackson, PHR. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Mr. Darius L. thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What do you think Corporate America gets wrong in your industry? Any stories or anecdotes that illustrate why this matters?
Working in Corporate America, especially in the Human Resources Department. Knowing the difference between Implicit Biases and Being Human. Don’t judge a book by its covers when you haven’t read the first chapter yet. The job market is very competitive in Atlanta and I would guess around the globe. As leaders we should understand the roller coaster ride candidates go through while in the market for employment. Have conversations with candidates to let them sell their skill sets versus judging them on a single sheet Resume.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Starting in June 2009, I began to help individuals like myself gain sustainable employment. After my job got outsourced, I was devastated – trying to find my next opportunity was challenging. I looked into a local staffing agency here in Atlanta. They gave me guidance to start a path in the Human Resources field. I knew my love for helping people would come, but didn’t know which direction it would take me.
Since December 2009, I have been helping individuals with:
1. Career Counseling – Helping individuals with having options and assessing with they have a passion for to direct them in that role for employment.
2. Job Readiness and Interview Skills Training – Ensuring individuals know the importance of a Cover Letter, Resume, and Thank You Letter is when you are in the market for employment.
3. Computer Skills Training – Showing individuals how to utilize the various job boards and how to read the job posting thoroughly to ensure they meet the qualifications and following the directions on how to apply per the hiring manager states.
4. Resume Workshops – I have conducted several Career Workshops at various Atlanta Fulton Public Library’s, that cover an array of topics from the different types of resumes to email etiquette.
5. Job Placement Assistance – Passing job leads off to individuals who meet the qualifications. Numerous staffing agencies send me job leads weekly, which I post them to my social media platforms.
How did you build your audience on social media?
Social Media has been nothing but a blessing especially for any thriving business owners. My classmates and coworkers have been my clients since day one. When you do an great job in your business, the clients spread the word effortlessly through conversations with others. When you receive awesome customer service and satisfaction one person tells another person and so on.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Building an awesome Resume for a client. Putting all of their experiences in a format that makes them marketable in the job field they are looking to go into.
Job coaching clients.
Showing them where to find these job opportunities. Throughly reading a job description and understanding if it’s applicable to your experiences.
Mock Interviews with clients.
The Do’s and Don’t’s while conversating with Hiring Managers. Selling your skill sets and how your the perfect candidate out of the pool
