We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Mpoyi Mpoyi. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Mpoyi below.
Mpoyi, appreciate you joining us today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
This is more of a broad question that I would like to narrow down to one specific field of work being my involvement in fashion. As I think more about this, I realize that the sense of working in fashion was natural. Both my parents along with my grandmother were seamstresses and I was subconsciously pushing forward in that direction. Knowing what I know now, I would have wished to begin as a grade school child in terms of sowing. It’s as if as I grow older I learn how cool my parents are to have this talent. My skill to learn was and still is the most essential ability I have. Creativity has always been something God has blessed me with but learning the history and statistics of how the creativity should be poured has been my greatest trait. As far as obstacles that have stood in the way, the only one that comes to mind are cultural differences. Being a first generation child growing in America and pursuing your gift sometimes isn’t the easiest thing to do. But as your dreams become a living reality you are no longer just a child saying things, you become an inspiration.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Firstly, my name is Mpoyi. I am a Creative Director, Model, & Stylist. I’ve always had an amazing imagination but it wasn’t until 2 years ago when I begin to turn the imagination into reality. At age 17, I directed and produced my first ever fashion show and ever since then I’ve never looked back. Since then I’ve begin to make a name for myself in the entire fashion field when it comes to modeling, styling, and directing.
When I think about what I am mostly proud of, it’s not necessarily my work but it’s more of the impact of my work and how people receive it. Through the projects that I put out I would like to inspire the audience with the goal of putting out their creative wonders since it’s the most natural and vulnerable versions of ourselves on full display. I want for everyone to supports me to know that there is no climax or ceiling because the ideas that are made will only continue to get better and better.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Yes, my life mission is to better the future generations of our world through creativity. I believe the entertainment industry plays the biggest role on shaping people to be how they are whether it’s done on purpose or subconsciously. So I want to become the best at these creative fields and spread a positive message to better everyone’s mentality by default as we live.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
As I briefly mentioned before, my answer to this would be seeing the impact of your work. As an artist or creative whichever you prefer to say, you work so hard to become a public figure in doing what you genuinely love to do and that in itself inspires so many people. I believe everyone is inspired by somebody or something and to be able to inspire and touch as many hearts and minds as I can through my natural gift is forever the most rewarding aspect for me.
