We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Moyi G. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Moyi below.
Hi Moyi, thanks for joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
When I was younger I would watch the grammys and admire the artist performing. It was Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey, the amazing performances on stage. It was the music video dance sequences and the way the artists expressed themselves through music and dance. I told myself at a young age I wanted to be a singer and a teacher. I wanted to somehow combine both make an impact towards the younger generation.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
It’s quite simple actually. I am the type of person who just likes to see everyone doing good. I love to encourage and pour into women, men and the younger generation, Pretty much whoever wants to listen lol. As an artist my main focus is to make and create real transparent music. Music that will help heal and push you towards being greater and happy. I believe it’s Important to make music that people can relate to instead of music that trends. Another artistic gift I have is having an eye for photography. I love to capture photos and be that memory keeper for someone else.
For a long time I struggled with my gifts. I had to learn the importance of the power and the uniqueness that I hold, the difference from me and other artists is I dont fit the image of an artist. I am still me at the end of the day, a mother of two, a minister, a woman who believes in staying true to herself and I highly believe that is what sets me apart. My drive to become the best version of myself unapologetically and transparently while helping others in the process is what makes me, me.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
A lesson I had to learn was one that was extremely necessary. I am the, I want to help and be there for everyone type of person, regardless if they are there for me. I learned extremely quickly that not everyone including other artists have that same mentality as me and expecting them to will have you down and upset.
I unlearned how to be so available and green. I created a tougher thick skin and now I’ve been at peace and at my own pace ever since.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
In this pursuit of music, I’ve had a rollercoaster of a ride. I’ve been pursing music since about 2010. In 2018 I decided I wanted to get some music out on ALL streaming platforms. I wanted to take that next step into my career. I no longer wanted to ghostwrite. I no longer wanted to be the background for others I wanted to show everyone me. It was time to tell my story.
I believe between 2019 until now, my story has been extremely resilient. I would need the entire magazine to tell my entire story. Lol.
I am a huge believer and I am strong in faith which is the main source of my resilience. In 2019 I experienced an important lesson.
In 2020 we all experienced a pandemic but to me the pandemic created and enhanced my vision. It helped me become more aware of myself, my gifts and it helped me become a greater version of myself.
Today in 2023 I can say that during that transitional artist storm that I experienced between 2019 and now, it was extremely important for me . It enhanced and molded me into the woman I am today. Into the artist I am today and I am grateful for the lessons and experiences that I’ve endured. I am grateful for the artists during that storm that crossed my path. They truly taught me lessons that I will never forget.
