We recently connected with Moustache Bleue and have shared our conversation below.
Moustache, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Are you able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen?
Yes, I’m currently able to earn a living from painting. I’ve been painting for forty years, with periods that have been good and others that have been more difficult
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I love drawing to tell my life story. I can be a happy man and still have a lot of trouble being happy. That’s why, for example, I draw “I’m the best” or “I’m the strongest dad”. Painting allows me to say what I think about my life, the world we live in, love, friendship, sharing, children and many other subjects that concern us all. I like to play in painting with colours, words and images that I want to be very simplified and joyful.
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
In terms of painting, Fernand Léger, Miro and Picasso are artists who inspire me as a person and for their work. I also find the artist Ben (from Nice) interesting for his questioning words.
There’s also classical music, which gives me the calm I need to draw.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
To spread joy and cheerfulness every day, because happiness and self-confidence are fundamental to our existence. One of my favourite drawings, for example, is a portrait of a happy young woman that reads “but I’m really brillant”.
