We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Mouna Fall. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Mouna below.
Mouna, appreciate you joining us today. How do you think about vacations as a business owner? Do you take them and if so, how? If you don’t, why not?
I love vacations and I think it’s vital for my mental card.
Every year I plan two vacations with my family. It’s crucial for me to share those moments with my family. We are creating unique and amazing memories for a lifetime.
As an entrepreneur it’s important to give ourselves a “me time” with or without our family. It’s a way to celebrate our accomplishment but also to reward ourselves for our hard work. Regardless how busy we can get, set time apart for vacation even if it’s one week a year.
With my family we choose an all inclusive resort at least on one of our yearly vacation and stay for 2 weeks. It helps control the cost of the vacation and give me worry free moments since everything is prepaid ahead of time and all I can do is to enjoy the amenities. We get to visit a new country, have new experiences and I get back boosted more than ever and ready to work even harder to have another chance to be able to experience those amazing moments.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a Jack of all Trades type of business owner.
As far as I am concerned, I have been always attracted by any business venture.
Younger and I am talking about 12 years old, I was selling donuts, Fruits and I graduated by selling fabrics, nails polish, clothes and shoes.
Around 18 years old while I was going to College for International Trade, I started to travel from Europe to Africa, selling goods from each continents in each continents. In Europe I was going to most Shengen Countries and in Africa most of the West Countries.
I made pretty decent income and I was able to own my first home and an investment building of 24 properties by 22 years old.
I moved to the US after my country started a Civil War and started developing a passion for hair styling.
I was able to hold a job with an airline company while running my first hair salon in the State of Maryland.
This business quickly become successful and I was able to survive and attend to one of my kid who was born with a genetic defect and need a lot of my time.
With money not been an issue, I was bless to properly take my daughter to all her Doctor appointments, spend months in hospital and still keeping a roof above my other children’s heads.
Moving fast forward, I decided to write my first book and publish it and it was amazing. I received a lot of positive feedback and I was so proud of myself since it was a childhood dream of mine to publish one day.
Three years ago I moved to Pennsylvania ans I opened a Wellness Center as well as becoming a Public Notary.
I got very sick in the beginning of 2024 and I had to close since I couldn’t properly focus on the business and it was too early to have it on automation.
After I healed from my health challenge, a friend of mine asked me to officiate her wedding and from there my next venture was started.
I became a wedding officiant.
I am expecting my third book to be published anytime soon and my career as a wedding officiant to take off. I have already a few reservations for Spring 2025 for upcoming weddings.
My advice is that it will be a lot of challenges along the way but consistency, reliability and honesty will take you very far
It’s not easy but it’s doable.
Write everything and revisit it as many times as needed, tweak it and keep pushing until you are satisfy.
Networking is very important and should be primordial.
Patience and celebrate each and every steps accomplished.
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
My first business in the US was founded initially with my tax refund saved over two years.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Excellent Customer service is a number one strategy in order to acquire repeat clientele.
Keep a book with each clients favorite method of contact.
Important to get permission before reaching out and communicate expectation to the clients.
Promotion often and favoritism to your older and repeats clients over the new ones.
Word of mouth is powerful so encourage your clients to share your business with their friends and family and if possible offer a reward for doing so.
