We were lucky to catch up with Most Kudos recently and have shared our conversation below.
Most , appreciate you joining us today. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
We’ve always put a lot of work into our compositions and recordings, and in an ever-changing world of fast pace social media we chose to remain resilient and patient with our craft. We believe in quality over quantity and establishing a solid relationship within our community by playing shows and uplifting our fellow artists and musicians, that’s really what it’s all about. We believe putting in the time and effort into our music makes people feel seen and encapsulated in their own world. We take a risk every time we begin creating a solid piece and putting it out for our fans, even though it can be a vulnerable experience, it’s incredibly rewarding to recluse and journey off into our own distant fantasies to create our next body of work.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Most Kudos is a four piece rock n roll group from Tulsa, OK. Our influences range from the Grateful Dead, Built to Spill, The Cure, Broncho, and so much more. The band consists of Harrison Walker on vocals and guitar, Garrett Steelman on vocals and bass, Conor Culpepper on lead guitar, and Chayton Burleson on drums. We when on a trip to Chicago to attend the Pitchfork music festival, inspired by all the amazing music we wanted to make this dream happen for us and our friends. We bounced around some different ideas for band names and we landed on “Most Kudos’ cause it had certain a ring to it that brought the feeling that everything was going to be alright, a specific comforting emotion. Since then we’ve being working hard on cultivating a world of imagination and creativity. We’ve always been into fantasy writing and we believe that bleeds into our work, being able to escape through your imagination and tell a story of adventure is something that really resonates with us. We want our music to do just that and take you away to a place of wonder and warmth.

How’d you meet your business partner?
We began writing songs together and recording demos and were set on a dream of making a band to bring their songs to, as time went Harrison introduced Garrett to his friend Mathew Baker, an influential musician and producer in Tulsa who shared a common passion for making music in the scene. The three developed a group and began playing they’re music around town. It was at one of their early gigs at Peachtown where they met multi talented musician Chayton Burleson, who became an immediate friend and member, which launched our music to the next level. We began recording and playing further away from our hometown of Tulsa, it was a dream that we never wanted to end. We evolved into Most Kudos through many years of writing and playing together, and along the way we found the spice we needed, a talented local blues guitar name Conor Culpepper, a sweet kind and nurturing soul who speaks volumes through his playing and truly touches our hearts. He was the final piece to our perfect musical puzzle.
