We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Moss Da Beast. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Moss below.
Moss , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Alright, so one thing we think people don’t talk about nearly enough is investments – either time or money. What’s one of the best or worst investments you’ve made and what did you learned from the experience?
The best investment has always been in myself and my ideas. I have tried to garner investors before I carried out an idea or plan and it never worked. Once I took on the attitude of doing for self and being a self starter, I was met with plenty people who wanted to help me either with free labor or actual partner who wanted to invest with me. Two specific parts of my business I would wrap this ideal around is my solo projects and my mixer drink called moss mix, The first mixtape garnered help from veteran djs for free and for discounted prices. The moss mix drinks has made friends and associates think of me when vending opportunities come up and even a investor that lets me use their venue to throw events centered around my drink as the top vendor.

Moss , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I grew up listening to the greats in the 90s 2pac, Common, Twista, Biggie, and the rest but I knew I had the skills and discipline to become great as them one day in my future. I also studied artists like 2Chainz, Ludacris, Jay -Z , Nas and others as far as how they became wealthy outside of music and the way they maintained their status. Over the years I have learned to become a student/sponge. You have to learn from people who are where you want to be even if you dont have close access to them. There are enough documentaries and books to find out all the info you need to gain a sturdy backing in whatever field you want to be in. By my field being music and merchandising I made a product off my name and likeness that is a soft drink, mixer and energy drink all in one.
The main thing I want my followers and newcomers to my brand is that I am here to use my talents to make life better for us all. If my song or albums can help someone get through a life situation I am happy to be that vessel. Same as with my products, Moss mix is here to energize you and help refresh that hot moment in the sun of the summer or during that workout. I am merely here to be a tool to those who are headed towards success.

Have you ever had to pivot?
At a point in my music career I had to go solo and leave the group I started this jouney with. I am first cousins with them (The H.I.T.Squad) and we will never really not be a group in real life, but it was time for me to spread my wings. The choice to go solo after being in the group and managing the group was a hard one. I had to put myself first for once and learn to put all my investments in my own ideas. Once I made the transition alot of positive motion began. I was able to get my own club night at a big night club in nashville. I started getting more paid features and took on a business manager who taught me how to brand myself as an artist and public figure.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
I built the backing of my business off of working day and night jobs and by hosting events as well as starting slow. I was able to get my Moss Mix drink business off the ground back in april of this year by starting small . Maybe 100 bottles and 200 labels . Even before that I made gallons and poured cups at events I was able to vend at. The most important part is to start so that small start was able to gain the initial funding to turn my small business into store accounts at multiple stores who buy my soft drink in bulk.
