We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Morrisa Peoples a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Morrisa, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Getting that first client is always an exciting milestone. Can you talk to us about how you got your first customer who wasn’t a friend, family, or acquaintance?
Our first client was the result of proactive relationship-building. We dropped off a complimentary charcuterie board to introduce Board & Bliss and showcase what we could offer. At the time, we didn’t expect an immediate response, but a few weeks later, they reached out. They were hosting a realtor event for future residents viewing properties and asked if we could make charcuterie cups. This experience taught us that investing in thoughtful, no-strings-attached gestures can create valuable future opportunities.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Board & Bliss is a labor of love, created by two food enthusiasts—a niece and aunt—who wanted to share their passion for charcuterie. We officially started in April, and by July, we became an LLC. Since then, we’ve crafted charcuterie cups, boxes, boards, and grazing tables for various events throughout the area, earning wonderful feedback along the way.
Our backgrounds influence everything we do. We both come from healthcare, so service is second nature to us. And since we’re originally from Mississippi, hospitality is a way of life. We see food not just as nourishment but as a way to bring people together, and every board we create reflects that spirit of fellowship. The encouragement from family and friends, both here and in Texas and Mississippi, has been incredible, and their support motivates us to keep growing.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
When we started Board & Bliss, we knew social media would be important, so we began by simply sharing our work and marketing what we do. We’re still in the early stages, and our following is growing steadily as we grow ourselves. At events, we make sure our social media handles are visible so attendees can connect with us afterward.
For anyone trying to build their platform, our biggest piece of advice is to stay consistent. It’s important to keep posting and promoting yourself, even if the likes or views aren’t where you want them to be right away. Social media can be discouraging if you focus too much on the numbers, so we remind ourselves that every post is an opportunity to engage with someone new. It’s all about staying patient and trusting the process.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
We’ve built our reputation through a combination of word of mouth, social media, and vending at local events. Word of mouth has been a huge part of our success—our satisfied customers share their positive experiences, which has helped us attract new clients. Social media also plays a key role in showing off our work and connecting with people. We’re still growing our online presence, but we make sure to stay consistent with posting and always promote our handles at events.
Local events have also been a great way to showcase our charcuterie in person. Being out in the community allows people to try our offerings firsthand, which builds trust and encourages them to spread the word. Each of these channels—whether through relationships, online exposure, or in-person events—has contributed to how Board & Bliss has grown so far.
