We were lucky to catch up with Morrinah Egharevba recently and have shared our conversation below.
Morrinah, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s jump right into how you came up with the idea?
Funny story about this one. Have you ever hard the saying, “man plan, God disposes”? This was the case for me. I have been considered the fashionable one among my friends all my life. Everyone always told me to start a fashion blog. However, when I got married, I decided to start a marriage/life style blog. Although I was a newlywed, and knew absolutely nothing about marriage, I thought sharing my journey and experiences as a millennial wife was a great idea. However, every time I released a blog post, everyone was focused on my outfits more so than what I had to say about millennial marriage. This is where the saying “Man plan, God disposes” comes into play. I was running away from what I was good at and known for. However, God had a better plan for me. Her Millennial Closet was born six months after becoming a blogger. Everything from the name, Her Millennial Closet, to the audience I wanted to capture, to the ways in which I wanted to share my fashion with the world was given to me by God. If you haven’t noticed this already, all things about me are for the glory of God. I will speak of him a lot in this article. Please note this.
Morrinah, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hello….. my name is Morrinah. I am a corporate professional by trade and also a Fashion lover at heart. See me as the overly dressed lady in the office on any given day. If I could, I would wear my best dressed look even to the grocery store. My passion for fashion and the art is something I cannot put into words. Each time I curate that perfect look, I always look in the mirror and tell myself how beautiful I am and looked in it. I am my own hyped woman.
I started Her Millennial Closet as my way of sharing my love for Fashion with the world. I’m a modest but sexy fashionista. I love to look good but in a modest way. I am Christian and an African, although I am over 30yrs. old, my parents still check me. If I “misbehave” with my looks on the internet, just know my mom and my dad will give me a ear full lol.
I learned early on in my journey that without motivation, discipline, and commitment, I was not going succeed. I found what made me happy, “styling” and I stuck with it. Yes, you can be a fashion blogger but what type of fashion blogger are you will be my question. Are you a designer, stylist and so forth. Mine is styling, which I then created different systems that work for me. I am committed to it because it brings me complete joy. When someone recreates a look, I spent all night putting together, it warms my heart. When my mom calls and says “oh my friend loved the way you wore that pants in today’s video” warms my heart also. Or when my friend simply texts me and asks “what color should I pair with this pair of red pants I have” those moments are my proudest. It proves/shows that I am doing what I am meant to be doing and people are happy with my craft.
My brand was created for those who look like me. For the pear-shaped ladies, for my dark-skinned Queens. For my Queens who struggled with finding the right outfits to fit their own body. For my Queens that are just looking for outfits motivation without getting the pressured of buying expensive items. For my everyday corporate Queens, mom, wife’s, sisters etc.
If you want to see more of my work, you can find me on all social media channels (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube etc.) @hermillennialcloset or my blog www.hermillennialcloset.com.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Getting “testimonials” from my followers. I remembered this one follower who had just had a baby and was uncomfortable with her body (mom body). She read a blogpost I wrote on how to dress your body type and she said that lifted her spirit so much. She said “she was just glad to have read something that made her feel a little better” She was not being pressured to lose the baby weight but rather she was given tips on how to dress the new body she’s in. That day I called my mom and cried on the phone. It was tears of joy of course.
You have to understand, being a creator especially a fashion creator, it looks as though all you do is get dressed and take videos. However, that is far from the truth. As a style creator, I am always thinking what color goes with this look, what shoes goes with this, what fabric fits my body right and so forth. There’s a lot that goes into creating these looks and when the audience resonates with it, my job is done.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I am currently separated from my husband. It has been a rough journey. When my separated started over a year ago, all I had was the blog. For some reason, I never thought of walking away from the blog. The blog was and still is the one thing that keeps me going. I would still create content, go for shoots, and engage with my audience although I was having a hard time behind the screen. The blog was my place of peace. Crazy to say this but looking back now, all I can say is; God knew what he was doing when he moved me to transition to Fashion blogging.
