We recently connected with Morgan Wilbon and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Morgan, thanks for joining us today. Looking back, do you think you started your business at the right time? Do you wish you had started sooner or later
I think I should have started my business later so I could have more time to perfect my craft more. But I started my business a couple years later after high school. But career wise I wanted to be a neonatal nurse and work with babies but that’s not where my heart was at my heart was in doing makeup. But by me starting my business later I think I would have been more successful.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Well, I got into the makeup industry after high school, but I decided to enroll myself into Athens Tech to get my esthetician license. And in one year I got my esthetician license and I started doing makeup on the side as a second string of income. And the type of services I provide is doing a full face of makeup but in a couple weeks I will add brow waxing & lash clusters to my service list! And I think what sets me apart from other makeup artists is I feel like my work doesn’t look like everyone else I think I have my own signature look!
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
I think the most effective strategy for growing your clientele is being more consistent. I had to learn that but I am doing better about trying to post more makeup content on my makeup page. But I am proud of me I am doing better!
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
I would say social media, because you find and connect with people thru social media and they can find and engage with your page thru hashtags or from other people sharing your posts.
