Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Morgan Wieser. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Morgan, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
I lost my corporate America job in early 2021 due to the pandemic. This was just nine days after we had just closed on our new house. So me being the daughter of a carpenter, I decided to take my time and energy and go to my new house and get it ready to get moved into. Starting with the master bedroom accent wall. Soon my friends would ask about me, helping them with their accent wall. Then became the beginning of a world win. Entrepreneur ship journey. Fast forward three years I now have six employees working with me and more than 500 Accent Walls under my belt. somewhere along this journey, it dawned on me that this trim carpentry world is typically a man’s world, and my favorite thing to do is prove that us women can kick ass with power tools as well! So the slogan for my company is “empowering women with power tools”. I want to show other women out there that we too, can kick ass with power tools just like men! My biggest goal in 2024 is starting a quarterly women’s tool workshop that just teaches women about tools! And helps them get familiar and less intimated by them! I just want yo show people we are capable as well!

Morgan, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’ve always been in supply chain management, but the pandemic put me in a whirlwind and spit me out with no job underneath me. Only nine days after my husband and I closed on a new house for our family. My dad is a carpenter so being handy is kind of in my blood already. So I decided to take my newfound time on my hands and energy and make my new house Extra homey with some Accent Walls. I would post my Accent walls on my social media and my friends are all interested in getting their own Accent walls. After a fun girls, wine night on one of my friends couches, and some liquid courage, the concept of Home Accents By Morgan was born. And I decided to take the leap of faith and post on Facebook marketplace some of my accent walls, and it has completely snowballed from there. Period me and now six other females, carry this company to show others that we as females can also do bad ass things like Accent Walls. In 2020 for a Home Accents by Morgan will be offering a tools workshop to show other women the basics on power tools. We are a company that empowers women with power tools. We primarily work in residential areas all around the metro, but are also getting into more corporate locations as well. We also offer wallpaper install for clients which is starting to really grow that side of the business. 2023 was a great year for us. We made our first TV debut on bargain mansions episode one of season five. We also had the opportunity to be featured in design KC magazine for our first magazine. Article as well. (And soon to be second article in Canvas Rebel!)

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Word of mouth! It’s SO incredibly important to me to have happy clients at the end of a project. I send a thank you card to every one of my clients with a small little gift inside as a thank you and appreciation to what they did for me, accepting my bid and supporting my small business. It means everything to me, literally puts food on my table for my family and I. So I never want to stop showing my appreciation to my clients.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Communication is soooooo important in this industry. I have learned, that in this type of industry, the schedule is always moving. Sometimes, jobs take longer than expected, which creates a schedule change for a future jobs. I used to get so down on myself when I would have to push jobs back, but I have since learned that it is just part of the journey. Having good and open communication with clients is so important to me are used to get so anxious when calling a client to postpone a job a couple days, but have since realize that usually the client is super cool with the schedule change and it just appreciates the communication over it.
