Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Morgan Taplin. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Morgan, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
In 2018, I had a vision to create a unique and empowering space for minority and female business owners in my hometown of San Antonio, Texas. Feeling the absence of a supportive and non-judgmental community that offered both educational opportunities and the chance to connect through networking and sisterhood, I was inspired to establish “Female Executives of Texas.” This community was born out of a deep desire to bridge the gap and provide a safe haven for entrepreneurs seeking guidance, practical knowledge, and meaningful connections while having fun at events. From the very beginning, my mission was clear: to foster an inclusive environment that encouraged personal and professional growth for every member. Over the years, witnessing the positive impact and feedback from our educational events and the camaraderie that blossomed among our members, I can confidently say that the hard work and dedication poured into this community have been immensely rewarding. Female Executives of Texas has truly become a transformative force in the lives of many, and I am honored to be at the helm of this dynamic platform for growth and support.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Creating the community, Female Executives of Texas, has been a deeply fulfilling journey, one that was driven by my personal connection and understanding of the average millennial business owner. As someone who shares similar experiences and challenges, I recognized the need for a platform that could provide valuable resources based on firsthand experience. Offering one-on-one and group monthly coaching and learning sessions, discounted events, and digital marketing support, our community stands out as the first of its kind, becoming a true trendsetter in fostering sisterhood and empowerment among female executives in San Antonio.
The proudest aspect of our community lies in the connections it has facilitated and nurtured. Witnessing women from diverse backgrounds coming together, supporting each other’s growth, and thriving as a collective force has been truly inspiring.
These connections have extended beyond professional realms, transcending into personal bonds, allowing our members to navigate challenges with newfound strength and resilience. We’ve witnessed the positive impact our community has had on local women, empowering them to break barriers and create significant change in their respective fields. The journey to establish and nurture Female Executives of Texas has been remarkable, and it brings me immense joy to see the transformative effect it continues to have on the lives of countless women in our region.
Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
The journey of Female Executives of Texas has been marked by a strong sense of independence and determination, as we were entirely self-funded until 2022. From its inception, we believed in the vision and potential impact of our community, and we were committed to making it grow organically through our own resources. By generating capital through membership fees, event ticket sales, and the sale of our exclusive apparel, we were able to sustain and expand our initiatives. Our members’ unwavering support and belief in our mission played a pivotal role in our financial success, allowing us to continue offering valuable services and opportunities to female executives across the state. In June 2022, we proudly accepted our first sponsorship, a significant milestone that further validated the relevance and significance of our community in the business landscape. While external support has become a part of our growth strategy, we remain grateful for the strong foundation built on self-funding, which has enabled us to stay true to our vision and maintain our autonomy as we continue empowering and uplifting women in Texas and beyond.
