We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Morgan Rogers. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Morgan below.
Morgan, appreciate you joining us today. Do you wish you had started sooner?
I like attribute painting as my introduction to makeup. The very first thing I picked up to create something with was a paint brush, & I’ll bet you’ll find some sort of paint brush in a makeup artists’ kit today.
I was working at an art studio through a summer program when I was fourteen. Soon after my mom took me shopping for my first makeup palette and brushes. By mid-school year, I was doing makeup in homeroom at high school. I’d been asked to do makeup many times for friends throughout college, strangers, even for a small production once, but I was extremely hesitant to truly call myself a “makeup artist”. Looking back, I sometimes wonder where I’d be had I taken myself more seriously, sooner. Although it’s only been a year of me confidently calling myself a makeup artist, I wouldn’t change my timeline. The incredible impact & insight my journey has given me has helped shape who I am in both my business and personal life today.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I began my entrepreneurial journey in 2019 birthing my business, BLINKMorgglam. What began as a luxury 25mm lash line has since evolved into a full lash line, including other beauty accessories, and in this past year have begun offering makeup services! I am extremely proud of the growth we’ve achieved as a business as we blaze our own path. BLINKMorgglam (BMG) has also contributed to fashion by once offering the trendiest fashion accessories, and though short-lived, we can rest assured we will make a return. My passion resides in enhancing beauty, both inside and out. When clients get into my chair, I create a safe, enjoyable environment where we speak freely and openly. It’s important to me to build organic relationships while providing any service. Above all, there is no better feeling that watching someone’s personality and confidence blossom thanks to your God given talent! I love to capture their reactions and pulling them out of their shells. Just as I may push a client out of their comfort zone with a different type of look or lash, they push me as well, challenging and embracing my creativity.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding part of being a creative is watching something go from a thought to actuality. Sometimes while doing a client’s makeup, I’m even taken aback by my talents and growth. I’ll think to myself, WOW, I did that. I DID THAT! I’ve had women move me to tears from the awe and admiration they showed when looking in my mirror. It’s the part I look forward to the most. To see the positive effect your craft has on others is unmatched.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I had to unlearn, and am still unlearning to not underestimate myself or my talents. I think sometimes we allow others fears to be projected onto us, and that in turn steals our drive, makes us second guess our capabilities all because of someone else’s doubts and fears. I’ve had to unlearn playing small, and show them what you can do. In life to truly reach the next level, you CANNOT play small! It has to scare you, it has to challenge you, it has to take you outside of your comfort zone in order for you to truly see what you’re made of. And it may very well be the hardest, most complex thing you’ll ever do, but once you the risk is so very worth the reward.
