We were lucky to catch up with Morgan Nash recently and have shared our conversation below.
Morgan, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your business sooner or later
That is a difficult question. From a very young age, I’ve always wanted to be involved in fashion. The fashion industry offers hundreds of jobs opportunities and growing up I’ve had interest in all of them. My time in college was the spark of being an entrepreneur but waiting a few more years after college and building more knowledge would have prepared me more. So, if I could go back in time, I definitely would have started my business later. I don’t regret starting my business too early because I’ve learned from my experience as a young entrepreneur. In the beginning of 2021, I stated my first business which came with a few road blocks. My first business, StylebyMCN, originally was an online boutique. Having a business at a young age and starting it so quickly made me realize that an online boutique wasn’t my desire. I love styling and that’s my true passion. Now knowing my passion, I have evolved as a person and changed my business, StylebyMCN, into offering styling services.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hello there! My name is Morgan, I am a 24-year old entrepreneur and fashion stylist, and the owner of StylebyMCN located in Atlanta, Georgia. We offer styling services for men and women! StylebyMCN is a brand offering to help an individual create their personal style. We strive on bringing confidence back for ALL MEN AND WOMEN! I’ve always had a passion for fashion. Growing up I was never scared to wear certain colors and patterns regardless of my skin complexion, weight, or just my overall look. I was never scared too simply be myself! Fashion gives me the ability to be free! I have full control on what I wear and how I want to present myself every day.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One important lesson I had to unlearn is that success is the opposite of failure. Most of my life I’ve felt pressure to be successful, which caused me to overthink everything I do. The effects of overthinking so much made me fail many times throughout life. Growing up I hated the feeling of being a failure, but it took me a while to realize that it is important to experience failure. You must understand the feeling of pressure on yourself and use it as motivation to get where you want to in life. Within my business, StylebyMCN, I thought closing my boutique and turning it into a styling business was a moment of failure. I realized it wasn’t because I switched it to something that I love and enjoy! If there is failure in anything you do, try to turn it into success; even if you have to start again.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Being involved in the fashion community since starting college in 2016; I’ve always worked behind the scenes. I actually liked working and assisting my bosses or other people at the time. For a very long time, I actually never wanted my own business. I was always good at being behind the scenes making other people look good through my work. One day a person pulled me to the side and said “you have a vibrant and friendly personality, I’ve noticed you do a great job helping others start and run their business. You should be working for yourself!” This was the pivoting point in my life. My entire perspective on life has completely changed. The advice I can give to other creatives or business owners if you’re in that place in your life where you are thinking about starting your business, DO IT!!! Whether you start now or later, everything is a learning lesson. Everybody in the world can’t call themselves a creative. This world needs more creatives to express their talent and skills! I hope my story and advice motivated you to believe in yourself!
