We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Morgan Mauldin a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Morgan, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. f you needed to find a key partner or facility – how did you find them, what was the process of striking a deal like and what would you do differently knowing what you know now?
Having great vendor relationships is just as important as our client relationships. We always joke that building a vendor team is a bit of a match making process for weddings and events! These people will end up working closely together on not just the day of, but the planning process and even post-wedding. We value our vendors and truly believe in team work making the dream work.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
We are a luxury wedding and events planning firm based in Baltimore but travel to wherever the party is! We specialize in full planning and design of luxury weddings. We’re truly there with you from the very first “yes” booked vendor to the changing of the last name – should you choose to!
Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
We wish that social media was more relevant when we started out! Now with so many “event planners” out there, it’s easy to gain attention with free publicity and styled shoots, but sadly that’s not always backed up with knowledge and experience.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Saying yes to everything! In the beginning when starting a business, it’s so important to gain experiences and saying “yes” to everything was revered. The hustle mentality and work-life balance was the hardest to unlearn!
