We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Morgan Layne. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Morgan below.
Morgan, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
Growing up in the Midwest, full of grassy plains, rolling hills, and more grassy plains, dreaming of bigger and better things seemed to come naturally to me. My parents always said I had a sense of wonder and was always on the move, that then followed me into my young teens. Playing mermaids at the local water park and saving the world on my copper razor scooter as a Spy Kid was just a regular pastime for my brother and I. My dream was to become something so much more than ordinary. When I graduated from high school, I was ready to take on the world, but life is funny sometimes and those dreams quickly came to a halt. A short time later, I started making a comeback, performing in stage shows, making one of a kind clothing, and just being ME! Fast forward to now, I have taken the biggest risk and moved myself, my two fur babies, and boyfriend, across the map to the Sunshine state in hopes to pursue my dreams to their fullest extent within the central Florida theme parks. Whether it be fashion or entertainment, I am living that dream I once dreamed of. That little girl clutching her Simba plush would be so proud.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I am a lifestyle creator with an emphasis in Disney. Within that, I have created a brand for myself to promote a more magical way of living, especially on a budget! As a childless millennial, I am all about saving money where I can, providing my followers with helpful tips on how to obtain those higher prices within a low cost budget. One main way I practice this is through thrifting. It’s amazing what people give away, and most times with the tags still on it! Plus, 9/10 no one will have the same outfit. Since my niche is Disney related, saving money during your magical trips and stays, getting the most bang for your buck!
Helping people live their best lives is my end game and I am constantly looking for ways to do that!
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
When I started on Instagram in 2011, I never knew it would blow up, not really. The first few photos are five cat pics and all edited with the old school instagram editing tools. Fast forward a few years, I learned how to edit outside of the social app but I still wasn’t gaining traction as an early Instagrammer. Moving forward a few more years, I turned my plain profile into a Disney gram, buckling down within a niche. I watched all the youtube videos I could find on “growing your audience” and a lot of them had really helpful advice. Since the beginning of Instagram, it has been a photo dump of life and what you’re eating/drinking, BUT NOW the possibilities are endless and more focused on a “day in your life” kind of feel. I had to grasp that people want to just follow you around while sitting in the comforts of their own environment, “living through your life” if you will virtually. So when I found that answer, I understood the assignment. JUST BE ME. I did and now I have been growing more than I ever thought I would, and all I had to do was to stop being everyone else and give people a reason to want to watch my content over or along side those I used model my brand after. No matter how many pictures you post or reels you make, that is the biggest and greatest advice I can give you to grown your audience!

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Building an audience on any social platform is a difficult road to travel and there are so many forks in the road to steer clear of, being scammers, bots, and fake brand deals. Making sure not to fall for things like that solidifies your authenticity on whichever social media app/site. When I started boosting my Instagram, I would message back every profile that was offering some sort of “deal”. From “20% off your order” to “you just have to pay shipping,” some of it seemed like it would push my photos/videos on the main feed and gain some traction. After months of “falling” for these deals, I started making my own unique content, clothes, and Ideas and THAT is what helped me grow as an influencer. I realized I don’t need a brand or deal behind @themlayne but I will promote those that I love and all because I want to! I am still not where I’d like to be in the social world, but where there is room for growth, there is room for new ideas, so I have a lot to look forward to!
