Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Morgan Hunter. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Morgan, thanks for joining us today. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
I bet on myself and my team – with the mindset “If I never quit, I can’t fail.” After just a few years in business, with most of them spent during the waves of the pandemic, we leased 2 buildings for our bakery to grow into. BOTH buildings were in terrible condition and needed a complete overhaul but the location was incredible and we had a vision that once completed, over 200,000 people per DAY would see our shop on their commute. It has been a huge undertaking and we have funded the project on our own to this point. It is hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel most days but I try to stay focused on taking baby-steps and that I AM making progress even if it isnt at the rate I would like. By taking the road less traveled, self-funding & keeping our faith – we are better positioned to succeed once both of our buildings are complete. I think an important lesson as a small business owner, is that calculated risks are so important and slow and steady DOES win the race. Our bakery will be an established local business that will open its first brick and mortar this year which will in turn generate new revenue streams and opportunities for our team and the community as a whole – we can’t wait!
Morgan, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Initially, I forced my introverted self out into the wild to network in my community of vendors. Attending meetings, luncheons, galas where I was able to introduce myself and my products in a group where there is always a need for my line of business. This is the oldest trick in the books but my business TOOK OFF after only a few networking events. I continued to establish myself by saying yes a lot to sponsored events or photoshoots where my business would be able to begin creating a bit of a spider web on social media via different accounts. Through all of the years in my business I have made it a priority to stay true to myself in that I only want to create what I love – that is after-all why I started my business. I do not agree to styles or designs that are so far away from my brand and style and I feel it helps our team and brand stay very consistent and attract clients are a good fit for us. I have always followed through on my word and been there for our clients as well as supported vendors in our industry to ensure they know they can always count on me. With this established, they are always willing to send business our way and feel confident doing it.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
You do NOT need to keep up with the jones’ in your industry! This is so important to learn early-on … if you want to stand out, you need to look different! This can be challenging in an industry like the wedding industry where trends are very popular and imitation is common. I keep my head down and focus on our goals and vision vs scrolling social media and seeing everyone else’s highlight reels. It gets you down and feeling like your aren’t doing enough constantly – it’s not worth the emotion and it is distracting. I had to learn to put up the blinders and what God wants for me is exactly what will happen.
