We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Morgan Hoke a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Morgan, appreciate you joining us today. Alright, let’s jump into one of the most exciting parts of starting a new firm – how did you get your first client who was not a friend or family?
I remember it like it was yesterday! I passed my real estate exam in August of 2017 and I just knew I would hit the ground running. But man was I surely mistaken. A month went by and I still didn’t have my first client. I was so confused as to why. So I just kept learning and promoting myself. Everywhere I went I made sure they knew I was a realtor. One day I got an email from a young lady stating she was interested in buying a house! So I immediately scheduled a time for us to meet, and a few weeks later I closed my first deal and my client bought her first home!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Morgan Hoke
Single mom. People person. Passionate real estate professional.
My journey in real estate officially began in 2017, but the seed was planted long before that—back when I used to tag along with my grandmother as she looked at properties. Even as a child, something about real estate always excited me. That spark never left.
With a naturally outgoing personality and a true love for helping people, I found my stride early in my career working with first-time home buyers. Educating clients through the process became my specialty—because I believe the more my clients understand, the more empowered and comfortable they feel when making such a big decision.
Since then, I’ve evolved and expanded my business. While I still love working with first-time buyers, I now work closely with investors as well—helping them evaluate flips, navigate renovations, and locate the perfect income-generating properties.
Whether you’re buying your first home, your next investment, or selling a property, I take the time to understand your unique goals and guide you every step of the way.
Let’s build something great together—one property at a time.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
When I first became a real estate agent, I had to quickly learn how to work for myself. I thought the clients would just come to me—but I quickly realized that’s not how it works. I had to become the business. I had to market myself, build relationships, stay consistent, and always stay learning.
Success in this industry doesn’t come easy, and nothing worthwhile ever does. But I made the decision early on: if I wanted to be great at what I do, I had to show up every day—with hustle, with heart, and with the mindset of always improving.
Being a real estate agent isn’t just a job—it’s who I am. And I’m proud of the journey.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Always showing up and being consistent helped build my reputation!
