Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Morgan Garza. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Morgan, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. To kick things off, we’d love to hear about things you or your brand do that diverge from the industry standard.
In business, the industry standard is to hustle, network with everyone, wake up earlier, be more productive, and always be striving for the next win. While this has obviously worked for many high-powered people in business, I believe there is a better way.
Hustle < Flow.
When all you hear on podcasts, read in articles, and see people do is hustle, you begin to think that late nights and no work-life balance are the only way to succeed in business, especially as an entrepreneur.
Hard work will almost always pay off. But at what expense? Usually at the expense of your mental health, your boundaries, your family and relationships, and your relationship with yourself. This is not only not sustainable, it’s dangerous! Living a life of hustle over flow will surely lead to burn out, mental health challenges, and relationship tension. You can count on that.
I spent years thinking that working harder, smarter, and longer would get me to the top. But it wasn’t until I quit my job to move to Spain in 2014 that I realized I had it all wrong, and so did the majority of the working world.
When I began to weave spiritual practices like astrology, sex magick, following the Wheel of the Year, and others into my business, I began to see exponential growth, more joy and ease, and a general decrease in anxiety.
Now, as the CMO of Saged (a spiritual app) and a private business consultant, I live at the intersection of practical and magical. I plan launches by the moon and astrology. I orgasm my way to sales goals and to attract new clients. I do shadow work to explore what didn’t work in a launch and how I held myself back. And I also look at data, metrics, open rates, and conversions. I live a both/and life. Both practical and magical.
Listening to my intuition and merging my inner and outer worlds has not only helped clients double income, boost open and click rates, blast past sales goals, and cultivate thriving communities, but it has helped me see that business isn’t black and white the way we’ve been taught. It can be infused with magic and intention to meet or exceed what all the top business podcasts and leaders talk about. There is a better way!
Ritualize Your Business!
Morgan, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My spiritual journey began with surviving a terrorist attack in India in 2008. I was 22 and working in my first real job out of fashion school as the personal assistant to a designer. We went to India to sample the spring ’09 collection when hell came to earth and the entire city was under attack. I ran for my life alongside my colleagues and strangers, surviving what so many did not. I was fortunate enough to come home, but was also riddled with PTSD, survivor’s guilt, and a deep desire to lead a more meaningful life.
This spiritual awakening set me on a path of self-discovery that eventually became my career. Now, over a decade and multiple breakdowns later, I am a published author, conscious CMO for a spiritual app called Saged, and a private business consultant for conscious entrepreneurs. I weave the practical with the magical to help people achieve their goals in business while also deepening their connection to their inner and outer worlds.
My first book “Soul Magic: Ancient Wisdom for Modern Mystics” was published in August 2020 and is available in bookstores and Targets nationwide! Through my first company, Spirit Guides Magazine, I established a thriving platform for spiritual seekers to find their north star. It was in building this conscious business that I began to rewrite the playbook on business and began to weave worlds together and practice spiritual business.
Now, I consult with entrepreneurs and companies on how to bring magic and ritual into their business to avoid burn out and grow with intention. And what a dream it is!
Through my various life experiences, I have come to the conclusion that I want to lead a both/and life. Both an entrepreneur and a mother. Both an author and a business consultant. Both a wife and a friend. Both practical and magical. I want it all! And I want to inspire my clients, students, and readers that they can have it all too.
I teach regular classes, courses, and workshops on Saged, while also running the marketing side of the company. I split my time between Saged and private clients and am always learning new ways and methods to bring more practical magic into daily life. In addition to marketing and consulting, I am a regular contributor to YogiApproved and also have a course called Modern Mystic available in their virtual class library via YA Classes. I am also a certificed EFT practitioner and am a lifelong student of astrology and the mind. My Gemini moon craves variance, while my Taurus sun keeps me grounded. It’s my Aquarius rising that keeps me moving ever forward on my own path.
“Love, light, and black holes” is my mantra for life. It encompasses the law of duality and the reality of the human existence.
I’m a modern mystic with one foot in the practical and one foot in the magical. My second book on shadow work is forthcoming, so keep your third eye peeled!
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My mission in life is to help people realize that ritual isn’t just for covens or witches. Ritualizing things makes them sacred, and encourages you to look at the way you show up differently. In my course, Ritualize Your Business, I don’t just talk about making magic. I weave my mission throughout to make the practical magical and address common concerns like sales, engagement, growth, project management, quarterly goals, etc.
This mission helps keep me on track too! On days when the mundane takes over, I pause and ask myself, “What is magical about this mess?” When I tune in, I turn ON. Problem solving from a different and more ritualistic perspective means that I am being creative AF and not getting lost in the mundane.
To me, this is creative thinking at its best. When I can wear two hats simultaneously, I am satisfying needs on both sides of my life: the practical and the magical.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
When I started my first company in 2017, I had to unlearn the hyper masculine approach to business. The hustle mindset had led me to burnout multiple times before. I knew I wanted to do things differently this time around. And when you’re your own boss, making the rules and setting the pace is a delight.
So rather than approaching my new business, my pride and joy, with a masculine structure, I dove into the divine feminine. I began to schedule my tasks around daily planetary alignment. I planned launches with the moon. I tracked financials with confidence, and I opened up to change as it came rather than being inflexible and attached.
Of course, there are a lot of benefits to masculine structure. But what I wanted to weave in was feminine flow. It was then that I realized: Masculine Structure = Feminine Flow. There was room for both to coexist at the table in my proverbial boardroom. They feed each other and support each other.
I dove into the benefits of a both/and approach to business and realized that the balance of both masculine and feminine is what our society is truly missing.
