Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Morgan Fray. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Morgan, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
Since the moment I entered this world, my parents have showered me with boundless support and guidance, surpassing every expectation. They embody the essence of encouragement in my life, constantly reinforcing the belief that I possess the power to conquer any endeavor I set my mind upon. Their unwavering faith in my potential has never known boundaries or limitations, allowing me to soar beyond the realms of possibility.
When my passion for volleyball ignited, they wasted no time in enrolling me in classes, ensuring I had every opportunity to nurture my skills. And when my aspirations shifted towards becoming the best female gamer during my middle school years, their commitment to my success had no bounds. They transformed my room into a gaming haven and hung three televisions to optimize my space for all of my gaming platforms. They even went a step further and provided me with recording equipment, enabling me to document and share my experiences through vlogging.
Above all, the greatest gift my parents bestowed upon me was the consistent reminder that my potential knew no bounds. They instilled in me the unwavering belief that I could become whoever I desired, as long as I applied my mind and invested time into honing my craft. As a result, I have accomplished extraordinary feats and achieved credible milestones in my life—achievements that I sometimes even forgot were once fervent aspirations.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Morgan Fray, a social media content creator specializing in bucket list ideas and unique travel content! I go around the world and my local area sharing fun date ideas & things to do for couples, families, and solo travelers. From swimming with great white sharks to visiting the Paris catacombs – I share the craziest adventures with my audience.
I never planned on being a content creator and it was honestly quite random as to how I got into the field. I own restaurants with my family and one time we partnered with a local arcade to do a cross-promotion. I went to the arcade with my coworkers, recorded their experiences, then shared it on Tik Tok as a ‘date idea’. That video went viral so the following week I went to another arcade to do the same and that video went even more viral! After that I realized I had a calling for this type of work and within 6mo I hit 300k followers on Tik Tok. Two and a half years later I now have an audience of over 510,000 on Tik Tok and Instagram!
I ensure that my content is not only inspirational but motivational and educational. I try to teach my viewers the beauty of the world by encouraging them to visit the locations I share and enjoy the spaces I review. With detailed storytelling, captivating visuals, and thoughtful informative content – I’m able to create enlighting content every week.
The power of my platforms has allowed me to drive high traffic to local and international businesses! It’s been incredible to see the growth that comes from sharing 1 positive review. I’ve also had negative reviews that have shaped the downfall of some companies as well which is sad to say, but in those moments I realize the power of my tongue which has given me the opportunity to grow in myself and change the way I word negative reviews to not affect businesses as much as it used to.
This entire thing has been a major growth process for me in my working life and personal life. I’ve even been able to garner thousands more of income for my family restaurants, Dat Jerk, by only posting 1 video! It’s something I’m deeply proud of since it affects my parents in such a positive light. They sacrificed so much for me and my brother growing up so my job is to ensure they live a comfortable and well deserved life which is what I work so hard to do. And so far so good!

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
The biggest thing I’ve noticed most non-creatives struggle to understand is the work put into content creation. Most believe that we just pick up a phone, record, edit, then post. Although that’s the broad perspective of things, there’s SO much more that goes into creating a single project. Starting with the location and the setup of the shot. Where are you filming? What are you filming? What camera angle are you considering? Is the lighting okay? If it’s not, where will you set up your external light? What are you going to say? What is the tone of this video or post? What viewpoint do you want your audience to have on your work and how will you portray that?
There’s many behind the scenes work that goes into each piece of work that can take hours or half a day depending on the type of work you create. I have a makeup influencer friend that specializes in transition videos. She told me some of her looks can take up to 15hrs to do! That’s 15hrs of filming alone. Then there’s editing, making sure you edit in your unique style, then creating a detailed caption, and hashtag research to make sure your video gets the exposure it deserves.
Apart from the technical part, there’s the mental part. People online are MEAN. And I say that with my chest. Anonymous accounts are bold and say unnecessarily rude comments to attempt to break you down. It took me some time to realize I can ignore those comments instead of letting them affect me, but sometimes social media can be extremely toxic and affect your mental health in the worst way possible. Each creator has to find their own ways to cope with that, but it can be a difficult transitional process.
If there’s anything I could personally say to non-creatives, it’s to give us grace. Creators don’t look at a corporate job and compare or talk down on the amount of work that’s being done. Everyone’s work-life looks different so find what works for you and respect what works for others! Also, be kind. If you don’t have anything nice to say, then keep your opinion to yourself. This world is already negative enough, don’t aid in that negativity.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
My audience consists of travelers, couples, locals, and families looking to for unique things to do with a touch of humor! I try to keep all of my content light-hearted, energetic, and captivating. I do this with humorous voiceovers, detailed visuals, and informative content.
I was able to garner my audience by being myself. I naturally talk…a lot so it’s easy for me to ramble in my audio’s. This allows for fun storytime and voiceover content since it’s natural for me to discuss my experiences in different places while keeping it entertaining.
My advice for anyone trying to succeed in the field is to be yourself! Do what you naturally do then amp that up a little to fit in your media content. The more you try to be someone you’re not or create content that is out of your spectrum, the more inorganic it will come across to viewers and the faster you’ll fall out of the desire to be a content creator. The passion will no longer be there and this career will feel more like a job than like a big creative project!
