We were lucky to catch up with Morgan Bolling recently and have shared our conversation below.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
Diary of a CEO is a video podcast I love which has helped me expand how I think. He has so many good episodes with interviews of different founders or thought leaders. Dare to Lead By Brene Brown
The Art of Gathering by Priya Parker which may be a little more specific to my work (often bringing people together around food)
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
This is definitely still a journey for me but the advice I’d have is: -Consider your own unique perspective. For me, especially recently, I’ve tried to prioritize content that highlights my areas of interest and expertise including southern women in food and being a female BBQer. There’s so much on social and you want to try to create your own space.
-Prioritize adding value to your audience. This can be entertainment or education or something else. But I try to ask myself is this helpful for people to consume? Is it a waste of their time? IF not, I can post it.
-Post regularly!! This is important for the algorithm. It can be once a week or three times a week or whatever is realistic for you. But pick a goal and be consistent in it.
-Read about the algorithm. Right now, on instagram you’re more likely to gain followers from reels but that may change; read about it regularly and then tailor your content accordingly.
