We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Morgan Berliner. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Morgan below.
Alright, Morgan thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear the backstory of how you established your own practice.
When I decided to start Eat Talk Grow I talked about it and my goals over and over with my friends and family. I like to analyze details and organize every thought before initiating an idea, which I have since learned isn’t always the best strategy. The biggest steps I needed to take was just to put my thoughts into action and just START! I hired a photographer to take pictures, a created an instagram, and chose a name. I have continued to grow and change as the business evolves. I’ve learned how important it is to be flexible and ride through all the changes as best I can. Since starting Eat Talk Grow, I have given birth to my third daughter and gained a new perspective on balancing mom-life and work-life. I have learned how important it is to balance time and put my efforts only towards what I want to focus on, no more saying yes to everything! I think that has really helped my business too because I have focused only what I wanted to focus on- which is educating parents on speech, feeding, and mom life. If I had to give any advice to a young professional it is to just start somewhere, if you are passionate about your job then you can figure it out as you go but you won’t get anywhere by just analyzing the details.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I am a speech-language pathologist and mom of three. I educate families on feeding and speech for their babies, toddlers, and children. A large part of what I do is 1:1 consults where I work intently with the family to meet their specific needs. I have PDFs and printables for free and purchase related to speech and feeding education. I also conduct informational sessions to daycares and preschools. I think what sets me apart from others is how I bring my personal experiences with 3 children in addition to expert knowledge on speech and feeding. I am able to intertwine both in a way to really connect with other moms and show understanding to the beautiful but challenging early years. I have a blog but my main source of information is through instagram and I have really worked to gain the trust of my followers. I am proud of how I built this company and continue to grow while helping others.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I think my ability to connect honestly with other moms has helped me to build my reputation. I show the hard and great times and educate families on how I navigate different stages. I am authentically myself and try to portray myself just as I am. I feel like there is so much information floating around on instagram and a lot of it is built on fear. You won’t see any fear tactics with me.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Gaining my client’s trust has really helped me continue to grow the business. The starting solids phase can be a really intimidating time, if you can show your clients you really enjoy helping and you know your information, it helps build trust in the relationship. I have been in the new mom’s shoes and when you need help, you want to find someone who is an expert but is also super relatable. When friends recommend me to other friends that is the biggest compliment and crucial for growing a business.
