We recently connected with Mora Steele and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Mora thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Often outsiders look at a successful business and think it became a success overnight. Even media and especially movies love to gloss over nitty, gritty details that went into that middle phase of your business – after you started but before you got to where you are today. In our experience, overnight success is usually the result of years of hard work laying the foundation for success, but unfortunately, it’s exactly this part of the story that most of the media ignores. Can you talk to us about your scaling up story – what are some of the nitty, gritty details folks should know about?
Hair&Healing has been open for 9 months and has up-leveled in so many more ways than just our fully booked out schedules. I have learned SOO much through trial and error, trusting my gut and making sure that we stay in full integrity and run our business from a loving and vibe up energy.
This may sound cliché but staying true to your brand and get to know your individual entity by let it working through you. This is what has helped us to scale Hair&Healing the way we have. Sometimes things did not make logical sense but my intuition lead me to make certain decisions and when I trusted it, and took the actions to follow through I quickly realized why I got the intuitive nudge in the first place! That is how I got to know the entity of Hair&Healing on a personal level. She is a great business partner and I tune in to listen to her always! :)
Hiring and investing in highly qualified support, coaches, technologies, luxuries for your business and trusting the flowy yet structured energy that these all provide is incredibly important. Keeping everyone on your team in their own zone of genius not only supports your team but the flow of your business thrives when everyone does what they love and what they do great at!
Something we implemented a couple months ago was an online booking system that created simple booking for clients and made more space for our team. That space left us with more room to grow and focus our energy on areas needed. It took several months to create, announce, and implement the new system but it was absolutely worth it when it was all said and done. This is not common in the hair industry because every client takes a unique amount of time but we were determined to find a solution and it has felt so amazing for us all!
My last piece of advice is to trust yourself and the knowledge that is within. You bring your own unique flavor to all that you do and that is a gift to everyone you are meant to reach.

Mora, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a High Vibe Hair Stylist and Energy Coach! I combined the world of transformation energy coaching with the transformational energy of hair styling! I have been a hair stylist for almost 15 years and I always knew there was more to hair than it seemed. I have always been passionate about helping people and after going on my own personal transformational journey within Hair&Healing was born.
I provide a loving and high vibe environment for people to have a one of a kind hair experience. I meet my clients where they are at and offer a loving and safe space for them to move through their own personal transformation. This can sometimes look like a fun new haircut or also like a powerful transformational hair ceremony with ceremonial drinking chocolate, incense and a crown activating and clearing massage.
This is my own unique gift that I have chosen to bring to the world in this way and it is an honor to do the work that I do! I am inspired by all of the incredible people that sit in my chair – this is just as much of a transformational experience for me as it is for them.
Have you ever had to pivot?
I think when you are a business owner and entrepreneur we have to learn to get comfortable with the discomfort of a pivot in our businesses. As intense as it may feel at the time I still get excited when I can feel a pivot happening. To me, that just means that my business is evolving and growing. Our businesses are a living and breathing entity and is moving and changing as we do.
There have even countless pivots and shifts I have had to make. The one that comes to the front of my mind is when I first moved in to our current location was I wanted to work solo. I used to pride myself in how much I could handle at a time and was determined to do it myself. This may have stemmed from working in larger environments and I was craving space from those at the time. Quickly I learned that not only did I need support, deep down, I truly wanted it! I had to get uncomfortable and let my determined ego ask for help and now I am SO grateful that I did. We brought on a team of incredible support that have expanded H&H more than I ever thought possible and we are still growing!
Making a large investment in others and also having others rely on your business as a source of income and wellbeing felt so scary at the time. What I learned was it was not only supporting my business but it was empowering our team to go above their own limiting beliefs on what is possible for them too!

Do you have multiple revenue streams – if so, can you talk to us about those streams and how your developed them?
Hair&Healing has a very special collection of local goods and products that we carry. One of my favorite offerings is our High Vibe Retail shelves.
As a local business I feel that the best way to feel supported in my business is to support other local businesses. What goes around, comes around sort of thing. Not only is it important to have really cool one of a kind products and retail for our clients but my favorite thing about it is connecting with our local community and bringing in their unique gifts in to our space through their own business creations.
This has also offered us a steady stream of revenue by making sure that we only carry what we personally use and what we love! People can feel that and they appreciate the quality of what we carry. There is never a limit on what we bring in – we are always open to collaborations that feel in alignment with our values.
