We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Moon Leone a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Moon, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
The most meaningful project I’ve worked on is my concept album that I’m currently working on. It’s been a deeply personal and transformative journey that has spanned over three years. The album tells a story through music, visuals, and characters, and at its heart, there are four fairy characters—Poison, Sorrow, War, and Noose. These characters embody different emotional states and phases of my life, representing the struggles and healing I’ve gone through. Each fairy symbolizes parts of my journey.
What makes Crescent so special to me is that it’s more than just music—it’s a reflection of who I’ve been and who I’ve had to become. It’s a narrative of survival, transformation, and emotional vulnerability. The music itself is cinematic and layered, combining orchestral elements with modern sounds to create an immersive world. The album opens with a string-based track symbolizing a phoenix rising from the ashes, which mirrors my own experience of rebirth after hardship. It’s about reclaiming power and healing, and I can’t wait until I get to share it with the world.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
For readers who may not know me yet, hi, I’m Yourfriendm00n (Moon Leone), a singer, songwriter, and creative storyteller who’s been chasing music since before I could walk. My mom always tells the story of me singing the national anthem at one years old, alone in another room when It came on the radio around the 4th of july time. Music has always been a part of who I am. I come from a family of musicians, and growing up, I’d jump behind microphones at any chance I got, even drawing crowds in grocery stores around Christmas Time. It was always clear to me that music wasn’t just something I liked—it was something I had to do.
My journey into the music industry wasn’t traditional—I didn’t have money, fancy gear, or industry connections. What I did have was my phone, a deep emotional well to pull from, and relentless determination. I taught myself how to record and produce using GarageBand, created a full-length album by myself titled “Phases Of The Moon (unplugged)”, and promoted my songs on social media. One of my early singles, “Am I a phase to you”, hit over 100,000 streams with almost no following at the time. That moment showed me that people do want real, raw, emotional stories told through music—and that I had something important to say.
My creative work focuses on music, visuals, storytelling, and emotional world-building. My upcoming concept album is a deeply personal story told through songs, fairy characters, and emotional symbolism. I’m all about merging fantasy with reality—taking pain, trauma, healing, and transformation, and turning them into immersive, cinematic experiences. I believe in making art that feels magical and real.
What sets me apart is my honesty, my vulnerability, and my ability to make people feel understood through sound. I build emotional landscapes people can escape into or find themselves in. I also live with multiple chronic conditions (fibromyalgia, endometriosis, PMDD), and I’m really proud of how I’ve learned to create while navigating pain, fatigue, and trauma. My work isn’t about pretending everything’s okay—it’s about showing the strength and beauty that can come from surviving and still choosing to love, create, and dream.
If you’re a potential fan, collaborator, or follower, I want you to know this: everything I do comes from the most honest part of me. My brand is about healing, magic, expression, and survival. I don’t believe in faking perfection—I believe in showing up as you are, scars and all, and turning it into something beautiful. That’s what my music is. That’s what I hope you feel when you hear it.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
One moment that really stands out is when I produced my entire first album using just my phone and GarageBand. At the time, my family and I were living with relatives after losing our home in a fire. I didn’t have a car, I couldn’t go anywhere, and we had no money. I felt isolated and like everything was working against me. But I had a vision—and that was enough. I locked myself in a room, taught myself how to produce, and created something beautiful from nothing. That album became the start of everything for me. It taught me that no matter what the world tries to take from you, it can’t take your purpose. And I’ve carried that lesson with me through every chapter since.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Yes. My mission is to create music that helps people feel seen in their pain, their healing, and their transformation. My concept album is a reflection of that—it tells a story through characters, visuals, and songs that explore trauma, rebirth, and reclaiming power. My goal isn’t just to make music; it’s to build an emotional world people can feel safe inside. For anyone who’s ever felt misunderstood, left out, or broken—I want my art to say, “You’re not alone. You are magic. And you can survive anything
