Several years ago, I took a significant leap by shifting my career into the healthcare field—a huge departure from my background in sales and a family business. The decision was bold, but I enrolled in nursing school and faced the challenges head-on. The journey wasn’t without its fears, especially when the COVID-19 pandemic hit and the world suddenly shut down. The uncertainty we all felt was overwhelming, and the unknowns about the future of work and life made it feel like an even greater risk. But I pushed forward, graduated, and now I have the privilege of working to advocate for our elderly and veteran communities.

Then, I took another bold step—becoming an entrepreneur. Entrepreneurship is inherently risky. You venture into the unknown without a guaranteed outcome. It all begins with a vision, followed by creating a plan, and then taking the leap. Some months are more successful than others, but even in the slower times, persistence is key. You must continue to push forward, network, and market yourself.

In the event planning industry, competition is fierce, but I firmly believe that authenticity and giving your absolute best in every project will set you apart.

The truth is: no risk, no reward. Success is earned through hard work, resilience, and determination.

Events by Monze was conceived long before I even realized it. Growing up in a Mexican family rich with hardworking men and strong, independent, and creative women, I was surrounded by powerful role models who taught me invaluable lessons. From spending summers at my father’s business, to helping my aunt design beautiful floral arrangements, and even taking orders at my other aunt’s juice shop—each experience played a pivotal role in shaping the foundation of what is now Events by Monze. These early lessons in customer care, creativity, and dedication ultimately led to the creation of this business, where every event is infused with the same passion and hard work that was instilled in me from a young age.

I believe building a strong reputation within my market comes down to a few key factors: consistency, authenticity, and a deep commitment to my clients. From the beginning, I’ve made it a priority to always deliver high-quality, personalized experiences that reflect the unique vision and needs of each client. I’m dedicated to making sure every detail is taken care of and that clients feel valued throughout the entire process. Additionally, word of mouth has played a significant role—when clients are happy, they share their experiences, and that kind of trust and referral is invaluable. Finally, my passion for what I do and my genuine care for my community have helped me build meaningful relationships that go beyond business, creating a loyal customer base that continues to grow.

Does your business have multiple or supplementary revenue streams (like a ATM machine at a barbershop, etc)?

Yes, Events by Monze offers more than just event planning services. We provide a diverse range of offerings to better serve our clients. In addition to our planning services, we operate a popular dessert business that has been featured in VoyageLA magazine and boasts a loyal customer base that has been with us for over five years. We also offer customizable buffet packages, which include serving dishes, utensils, and dedicated servers and bussers to ensure a seamless dining experience. Recently, we’ve expanded our services by adding a photo booth to our inventory, allowing us to offer even more value to both our existing clients and new ones. These and many more supplementary services help us create truly memorable events while diversifying our revenue streams.
