Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Montse Soto. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Montse, thanks for joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
Since I was a child, I knew I loved acting. I participated in several theater productions from the age of five. Acting, singing, and dancing have always been present in my life. From the first time I watched a movie, I knew I wanted to do that forever. Music took me by surprise; sometimes life leads you down unexpected paths. I had always liked music, but a year ago, I started writing as a form of therapy, writing down everything I felt and experienced in my life. Eventually, I realized that everything rhymed, and I began writing songs. Since then, I have written over 30 songs. Last September, my first single “Repair” was released, and currently, I am working on releasing my first album.

Montse, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am an actress, singer, model, and influencer. I have participated in theater productions in NYC, short films, and commercials in Mexico, LA, and Florida, and I filmed my first movie “Lime & Vinegar” a year ago. I do a bit of everything. I studied a bachelor’s degree in marketing and communication in Mexico, acting in Madrid and LA, and music at Berklee. I have been a content creator for the last two years, collaborating with international brands, and I am the fashion director at Mav Magazine.
My two passions are acting and music. I enjoy the entire casting process, and my favorite part is creating characters. I have a mood board for each character I audition for. I am very excited about telling stories that seek to connect with people. I am extremely proud to be Latina and to represent my country in this industry. The journey hasn’t been easy, but I have always believed that dreams come true when you work for them and believe in yourself. One of my goals is to inspire more people to pursue their dreams and show them that they can achieve anything they desire in life.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I have always been a very perseverant and somewhat stubborn person when I have a goal, I don’t stop until I achieve it, and that’s what has helped me keep going when I’ve wanted to give up. I am a survivor of depression; life gave me a second chance, and since then, I have learned to value life a little more and to enjoy every second of the present without worrying about tomorrow.
I had an accident in 2022 that undoubtedly changed my life. I had to learn to walk again and to be strong and resilient to recover. My career and my life were put on hold for several months, but today I can say that thanks to that accident, I am who I am, and I wouldn’t change anything in my life. I believe that timing is perfect, and all experiences, whether good or bad, teach you something in life.

Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
To keep moving forward and not give up. If I could say something to the 18-year-old Montse, it would be: “Don’t give up, keep preparing yourself, but don’t take rejection so personally. Being an actress helps you deal with rejection and understand that sometimes, when you don’t get a role, it has nothing to do with how you look or your physical appearance they simply may be looking for a different profile. I remember feeling very sad when I wasn’t called back for my first auditions, but now I understand that it’s not about me.
My advice to anyone who wants to enter this industry is to prepare yourself, study, and never stop learning. Most importantly, don’t give up. Acting is a career where persistence is key, keep auditioning all the time, and if you get rejected, it’s okay just keep trying, and I promise someone will believe in you. and when that opportunity comes, you have to be prepared to give it your best.
Something I’ve learned in the past few months is: If you want to create something, do it. Don’t stop and this mindset has taken me very far. I remember at the beginning, I had no idea how to mix music. I tried for months until I finally created the melody for my first song. Life is too short to not try don’t leave anything on the table, it’s better to try and fail than to wonder what could have happened if you had chosen a different path in your life.”
