We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Montaniqua Ellison. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Montaniqua below.
Hi Montaniqua , thanks for joining us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
The idea for Revivify really came from a combination of passion, experience, and a strong desire to offer something special to people in my community. Over the years, I’ve always been drawn to beauty, wellness, and helping people feel like their best selves, which is why I had been working on and improving my services over time. I realized that beauty isn’t just skin-deep—it’s about confidence, self-care, and creating moments of peace in an often chaotic world.
The moment that really solidified the idea was when I saw how much joy and confidence my services, like lashes or skincare treatments, could bring to clients. It wasn’t just about aesthetics; it was about helping people feel rejuvenated—revived. That’s where the name Revivify comes from. I wanted to create a space where people could come not just to look good, but to feel renewed from the inside out.
As I was building out the business idea, I noticed that while there were many beauty services out there, there was a gap in personalized, holistic care. So many places treat beauty as transactional, but I wanted Revivify to be about the experience, where every customer felt like their unique needs were being met. That’s what excited me—the idea that we could stand out by offering not just products and services, but an experience that truly uplifts people.
Revivify was born out of a genuine love for people and a belief that self-care is a transformative act. It’s not just about solving one problem; it’s about creating a space that helps people feel renewed in more ways than one. That’s what gets me most excited—knowing that we’re making a real difference in how people see themselves and feel in their daily lives.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Montaniqua Ellison and I’m the founder of Revivify Esthetics a beauty and wellness business focused on offering personalized, high-quality services and products that help people feel and look their best. I’ve always been passionate about self-care and beauty, and over the years, I’ve honed my skills in esthetics, which led me to open Revivify. I wanted to create a space that was more than just a beauty service—it’s a place where people can truly revive themselves, both physically and emotionally.
I offer a variety of services, from lash extensions to skincare treatments, as well as a curated line of products like lip gloss, candles, and more. Each product and service is designed to promote both inner and outer beauty. For example, when clients come in for a lash service, they leave not only feeling glamorous but also refreshed and cared for in a holistic way.
What sets me apart is the deeply personal touch I bring to Revivify. I’ve spent years working with people and understanding their individual needs—whether it’s from my experience in child care or my years in beauty—and I bring that understanding into every service. I don’t see clients as numbers or transactions; I see them as individuals with unique needs and desires. Revivify is about providing that individualized care, and that’s something I’m incredibly proud of.
The problem I solve for my clients is that I don’t just offer beauty services, I offer a space to reconnect with themselves. In today’s fast-paced world, it’s so easy to get lost in the hustle, but my goal is to give people a moment of peace, relaxation, and confidence.
What I want potential clients and followers to know about me and my brand is that Revivify is more than just a beauty business—it’s a movement toward self-love and self-care. Everything we do, from our lashes to our lip gloss, is aimed at enhancing the beauty that’s already within you. I’m proud of the impact we’ve made so far and excited to keep growing and expanding what we offer.
At the end of the day, my mission with Revivify is to inspire confidence, empower people to embrace their beauty, and create an environment where clients feel valued and cared for.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Your target audience ISNT your friends and family!
This is something that I have learned over the years. Create products and push to those who are not among you, this will grow your business and save yourself alot of heartache when the people you want to support you end up not supporting you. Or when they disagree with the services that you provide.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Building an audience on social media for Revivify was a journey of learning, experimenting, and staying consistent. When I first started, I knew that I wanted to create a platform that not only showcased my services but also reflected the values and experiences that Revivify represents—self-care, confidence, and beauty.
I started by focusing on **Instagram** because it’s such a visual platform, and beauty is all about visuals. I began by sharing high-quality photos of my work—lashes, skincare, products like candles and lip gloss, and behind-the-scenes shots. But what really helped me build an audience was being **authentic** and engaging with people. I didn’t just post and walk away. I responded to comments, DMs, and really took the time to connect with my followers. People want to feel like there’s a real person behind the brand, so I made sure to share a bit of my personality, the Revivify story, and even challenges I’ve faced along the way.
Another important part of building my audience was using **Instagram stories** and **reels** to give more of a “day-in-the-life” perspective. Whether it was showcasing a new product, a lash transformation, or even just talking to the camera about something that inspired me that day, it kept people engaged because it made the brand feel personal and real.
**Consistency** was key, too. I made sure to post regularly, even when I wasn’t seeing immediate results. It takes time, and I had to stay patient and trust the process. I also invested time into learning about hashtags, trends, and the best times to post to maximize visibility. Collaborating with other local businesses or influencers helped increase visibility as well, as it opened up my brand to new audiences who might not have found me otherwise.
For those just starting to build their social media presence, my advice would be:
1. **Be Authentic**: People are drawn to genuine content. Share your story, your personality, and what makes your business unique.
2. **Engage Consistently**: Don’t just post and leave. Respond to comments, interact with your audience, and make them feel seen.
3. **Post Regularly**: Consistency builds trust. Even if your audience is small at first, keep showing up. Over time, people will take notice.
4. **Leverage Visuals**: Especially in industries like beauty, high-quality images and videos are essential. Make sure your content is visually appealing.
5. **Use Hashtags and Trends**: Research hashtags relevant to your business and engage with trending content to boost your visibility.
6. **Collaborate**: Partnering with other businesses or influencers can help you reach new audiences and build credibility.
Social media is powerful, but it’s a long game. Don’t get discouraged if growth feels slow at first. Stay consistent, stay true to your brand, and keep engaging with your audience authentically.
