We were lucky to catch up with Montana McPherson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Montana thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
Since I was a young girl I’ve always been extremely artistic. From a very young age, I’ve been involved in fine arts programs. Including ballet, tap, choir and even orchestra. Stemming from the love of music and fine arts from my parents, I quickly developed a deep love for fine arts myself. Growing up we listened to the greats across the generations such as Aretha Franklin, Parliament, Anita Baker, Marvin Gaye, Mint Condition, Sade, and many many more! At the young age of 3 I sang my very first song “Nobody’s Supposed to be Here” by Deborah Cox, and there my family discovered my talent of singing & my love for music began to bud.
Montana, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Dallas/Fort Worth native, Montana, is an up and coming artist who was born in Arlington, Texas. Montana is a multifaceted, singer and her music is a reflection of herself. Her interest for music sparked at the young age of 2, as she has a strong musical background beginning in the church. Shorty after, she began blossoming into her passion to sing, and playing the violin. With her Southern roots and church background, Montana’s sound can be described as smooth r&b sounds, with those famous, base heavy Texas twists. At 27, Montana is mastering her craft, and continues to raise the bar, and set new expectations for herself. Currently Montana is a student at the University of Texas at Arlington, where she studies Business, Marketing, Management and Music. She is also the proud owner of “Modern Digital Design”, a graphic design company. Specializing in all graphic design needs, from logo making, web designing, to Marketing Consulting, and much more!
With her skill sets and talent, Montana plans to continue to excel and share her music & knowledge with the world. “I’m not where I want to be quite yet, but I’m far from where I was! We’re all works in progress and I’m grateful to be able to share my journey with the world through my music. From the heartbreaks, to the victories, to the moments of uncertainty and doubt, circling back to self assurance. I hope I’ll be able to help someone on their journey to self awareness & healing. I want my supporters to know they’re never alone”.
Montana is currently getting ready to release her first official, new and highly anticipated album “Komplicated”, where she gives more insight to the inter workings of herself and her journey to inner peace & solace. As the future unfolds, and the artistry keeps coming Montana has grand plans. Not only for herself but for her hometown, which she very much so loves!
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
In my opinion the best thing society can do to support artists is to be open minded & respectful of our art. There’s such a wide variety of art and an even wider range of the different depictions of said art.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My goal or mission driving, not only my creative journey, but my inspiration in life is my son/ my family. I want to set the best example I can for my son and build a legacy, that benefits not only my son and my family but also the generations to come in the future.
