We were lucky to catch up with Monisha Jordan recently and have shared our conversation below.
Monisha, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Owning a business isn’t always glamorous and so most business owners we’ve connected with have shared that on tough days they sometimes wonder what it would have been like to have just had a regular job instead of all the responsibility of running a business. Have you ever felt that way?
There’s always times where I just wanna throw in the towel and be done with being a business owner. This is definitely not for the weak but it’s a learning experience and it does teach you to be consistent, persistent, patient and grounded. Starting from the ground up, it does get hard because no one knows who you are and so you have to basically prove your worthiness, gotta build that trust with strangers lol. When you all originally interviewed, the 1st time, I was just starting my beauty business. Since then, I’ve expanded to 3 businesses, beauty products, press on sets and digital products & graphics for other brands/businesses, plus I’ve become a full time Beauty Influencer. Even though it can become overwhelming bring a business owner, I wouldn’t change it for the world. I love being my own boss.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Monisha Jordan and you may remember me from the 1st interview. I’m the CEO & Founder of Slay Moe LLC. Since my 1st interview, I’ve started 2 more businesses. I make & sell custom beauty products, I make custom press on nails & toes kits, and I make custom digital products & graphics for other brands.
I’m different than your average beauty brand because I’m very extra and high maintenance. My brand expresses that. It gives other individuals the opportunity to express themselves unapologetically and learn to love themselves much better.
I sell things that are a little more unique, like custom Lip gloss, or as I call it Slay gloss. It comes in many colors and themes. Everything is extra lol, my mink lashes, my wig boxes, my press on kits, even my graphics are unique and extra lol.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I’ve always been on social media since MySpace days, but I took it more serious in 2021. I posted a random video showing my natural face and it went viral, hitting 2.4 million views and just been growing since.
If you are looking to grow on social media I suggest to continue to be yourself, engage with your followers, stay consistent and post clear clean view good quality content. A lot of ppl now a days become monetized and just get to posting anything to make money…but it’s more than that when it come to being an influencer.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
I would say using AI to promote my products. I still use reality images, like me and other individuals using my products but I also have recently started using AI to promote all my products & services. This gives me a better opportunity to show my audience the benefits of using my products and services. This also gives my brand a more professional outlook because sometimes it’s not always easy for new businesses to reach that professional level without spending a fortune.
