We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Monique Wimbush a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Monique , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What do you think it takes to be successful?

I honestly believe that in order to be successful you must first make a decision. Once you’ve made the decision to do something you then must write down a date so that you have a realistic time frame to get it done. Being successful mean that you have to be disciplined even when the motivation isn’t there that day! Success may not happen over night, you may not see your hard work paying off but you keep going! For me, I’ve done all of the things above in order to succeed at goals that I had set for myself. Was it easy? No! Had a given up completely?! NO! But I did reset my time and just did it again!

Monique , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

I am a woman who beat the odds! From a mom addicted to drugs, to foster care, to sleeping with men for money. I had no clue exactly how I’d get into the groove of CHANGE but I did. I simply wrote down what I was good at! Im good at helping others, I’m great at telling my story authenticity and I soon realize that in my daily life that I truly was a blessing to so many others! I remember people telling me to start a podcast because I can help people far and near and so I did! I didn’t let my past define who I was but I allowed it to help me help others!! I began looking into event host for motivational empowerment speakers and once I had enough podcast episodes, slowly but surely people were reaching out. I was reaching out to people as well because I felt good knowing that my story told over and over and would help someone else. I’m dedicated and passionate about what I do! I’m open to empowering on every single stage and platform that I qualify for! This is just the beginning

How did you build your audience on social media?

Ahhh! I love this question. When I started building my platform I was honestly just being myself! I was telling the same story over and over again because it’s always people who don’t mind listening more than once and sharing your work onto their platform which in turn opens who I am on someone’s else platform. I posted Multiple times a day just to keep myself on top of people’s timeline! I used hashtags and locations to get the attention from hundreds of people. You just really have to make time for you! If you have 8 hours to use at your work place to help another company grow, that’s awesome but don’t forget about you! Give yourself 8 hours too for your own business!

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?

The most rewarding aspect of being creative in what I do it’s being able to help other men, women, boys and girls of all ages realize that where they are now is just apart of their journey and once I’m done speaking, they are able to leave feeling undefeated! That’s what it’s all about for me!
