We recently connected with Monique TaChae and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Monique, thanks for joining us today. Alright – so having the idea is one thing, but going from idea to execution is where countless people drop the ball. Can you talk to us about your journey from idea to execution?
I have a Bachelor’s degree in Communications Journalism from Central State University. Before launching Spotlyte PR as a full service public relations and marketing company, I was working in the world of sales. I’ve always been pretty ambitious so although I was working jobs in corporate in the day, by night I was doing my passion coordinating local events with my sister/business partner or pushing my music career as an artist; then In 2019, a few colleagues and I even launched a nonprofit program that mentors youth girls. During Covid, I used my time strategically planning my way out of corporate America. Before I delved fully into my career in PR, I was using my “journalism skills” to help push my music and market myself as a music artist. I would do my own write ups and promo. Other artists would ask me for help and this is how I began acquiring clients. At that time, I didn’t see the potential of running a company, I was just helping other artists. As a former artist under independent music label AudioDream Records, they relocated from my hometown in Ohio to California and they would send their artists to me for write ups, promo material & biography editing/writing—I eventually had to develop a menu of services that fell under my skill sets. This became a nice hustle for me in the beginning and eventually developed into a partnership with AudioDream. My mentor would later encourage me to launch a PR firm and when I saw room for that opportunity, that’s exactly what I did.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My journey into the realm of PR was not a linear path, but rather a mosaic of experiences and passions that ultimately led me to where I am today. My background as an artist provided me with a unique perspective on the intricacies of the music and media industry. As an artist, I experienced firsthand the challenges of gaining visibility and recognition in a crowded market. I began leveraging my journalism skills to promote my music and support fellow artists in their endeavors. This initial foray into publicity ignited a passion for strategic communication and marketing that would shape the trajectory of my career.
Over time, I found myself increasingly drawn to the business side of the music industry. Collaborating with peers in various ventures, I discovered the power of strategic partnerships and the importance of a personalized approach to PR. Recognizing the need for a firm that truly understood the nuances of the music industry, I developed Spotlyte PR with a mission to empower emerging talent and foster meaningful connections. Drawing from my own experiences as both an artist and a collaborator, I am able to empathize with the challenges faced by artists and brands and can offer tailored solutions that drive tangible results. Whether it’s securing press coverage, organizing events, or crafting compelling narratives, we are proud to elevate our clients and help them reach their full potential.
Looking back on my journey, I am proud of how far I’ve come! The impact and meaningful connections I’ve made or facilitated—every success story is a testament to our dedication and passion for our craft. As we continue to grow and evolve, I am excited to see what the future holds and to continue making a difference in the lives of brands around the world.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
I would say it’s been a combination of exceptional service, industry expertise, personalization, strong networks, innovation, and positive word of mouth that have helped us become the go-to PR firm for artists and brands. It’s been an evolving process, but I’d say one of our most effective strategies has been leveraging our existing relationships and networks within the industry. You see, trust is huge in this business, and having those personal connections has really opened doors for us. When potential clients see the results we’ve achieved for others, it instills confidence in our ability to deliver for them as well. So, we make sure to highlight our past wins and client testimonials whenever we can.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Personally, my goal is to break generational curses in my family, change the trajectory, and pave the way for future generations. God willing, I always want to be of resource to others and provide opportunities for those who come after me in the creative industry. I love the saying, “if you’re not making mistakes then you’re not making decisions”. This quote reminds me to just live. Go and jump and figure the things in life out along the way. I wouldn’t have experienced and achieved as much as I have so far in my life had I not took risks and chances. I encourage everyone who reads this to go out and live an abundant life. There is a big world out there.
