We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Monique Russell a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Monique, appreciate you joining us today. One of the toughest things about progressing in your career is that there are almost always unexpected problems that come up – problems that you often can’t read about in advance, can’t prepare for, etc. Have you had such and experience and if so, can you tell us the story of one of those unexpected problems you’ve encountered?
In the Professional Coaching Industry, you have to be prepared for curve balls. The most unexpected problems earlier in my professional career that I’ve faced, was when I mapped out the client’s session and we totally focused on something outside of what was planned. Of course, I was thrown off, however, I was attentive to the client’s moment. Focusing on where they were in that moment is very important to the client. Realizing that you as the Coach is listening and not being judgmental gives you as the instructor a chance to let the learner (the client) be able to hear themselves solve their own problem. Life hits us with lessons we do not expect in certain moments of our lives, as a Coach I have to discern what strategies to combat the situation with. Often times people know the answer to their own problem(s), however the circumstance overwhelms them; by creating a safe haven for the client to be vulnerable enough to trust that the other person listening will guide them to the best resolution possible.
Monique, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Monique Russell. I am a Certified Life, Professional, Christian Coach. I am the CEO of Monique Empowers LLC., established in 2019.
Being a Leader, Innovator and Author (Broken, Shattered, Yet chosen) I created one-one coaching services and corporate coaching services with groups. Everyone receives a FREE, 25-Minute Consultations that is conducted beforehand to make sure I am the person for the client’s need.
I started my Professional Coaching business because of my compassion to empower the people. I believe, when an individual knows better, they began doing better for themselves.
My sessions are customized sessions which includes soul-provoking self-help plans that are tailored to the clients need. In the sessions there are calls of action tools utilized to introduce self-awareness, providing an opportunity for the individual to evolve in their lives. Each session is built to speak directly to the areas of stagnation. The core of these sessions is to help each client live their fullest potential spiritually, mentally, physically, emotionally, and financially life.
Furthermore, I hold a Free Mentorship class each Monday at 6:30 via Zoom with my Economic Mentor to empower the people. We provide the mentees instructions on how to invest in the stock market, purchasing homes, land, tax deeds etc.
It is my mission to be the P.E.P. (Plan.Execute.Prosper.) in people’s lives.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The best way to grow your clientele is to always be transparent with them. You have to make sure you know your audience, what problem you’re solving and what services you provide. If their desired services are out of your scope, make the client aware of it and simply refer them to someone else.
Understanding that you and your business is not for everyone will save you disappointment. If the client is satisfied with your services, they will be your mouthpiece that will lead more clientele to your business.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Again, word of mouth has grown my business and I am so grateful for it! Also social media (Facebook and Instagram) has been a huge marketing tool for me.
