We were lucky to catch up with Monique Nash recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Monique thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I feel in order to be successful it starts with hard work and dedication. I am very big on manifesting my dreams and goals. I feel that it is very crucial to my journey in life. For me success is not about being on top all the time but seeing a vision come to life slowly but surely. Making a difference and giving back. If I can touch just one person with my gifts that is what a consider success!
Monique, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a small business owner from St. Louis, Mo. born and raised. I started my makeup journey ten years ago as a career. From a little girl to an adult I always loved all things beauty. I would always get compliments on my makeup when I would do my face. I decided to make a career out of it after so long. I currently do full service makeup and social media content for Instagram, Tik Tok & Facebook. When clients come to me they are looking to feel beautiful and get rid of insecurities. I make that happen for them which is such a reward. I have a unique style from my hair, fashion and makeup. I think that is what sets me apart. I want people to know and understand that whatever their concerns are needs are I will completely do my best to full-fill and educate them to the fullest. I enjoy creating content and sharing my knowledge of products, lifestyle and family.
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
YouTube has been my best friend when it comes to my business. It has taught me everything from how to do makeup, what products to start selling first, how to network with others and how to sale myself. It’s the end all be all for everything.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
One lesson I have learned in this business is that there are no hand outs. People who you think will be your biggest supporters won’t be. Don’t focus so much on that and just to do the work and the support will come.
