Have you ever had to pivot?
A few years ago, I found myself in a space where I was unsure of the direction I was supposed to take with my work. I had always been passionate about supporting women’s empowerment and healing, but I hadn’t quite found the right way to bridge those passions with the community’s needs. It was during a casual conversation with a close friend, who had recently become more involved in cultural healing practices, that I first heard about waist bead ceremonies. At first, I didn’t fully understand the significance or the healing potential of the practice. I thought it was something more rooted in tradition, rather than a modern tool for empowerment.
But after hearing several women speak about their experiences with waist beads, how they had helped them reconnect with their bodies, their femininity, and their sense of self, I realized there was a deep, untapped need within the community. I began to see that waist bead ceremonies weren’t just about adornment or aesthetics, they were a profound form of self-expression, healing, and transformation. Many women had struggled with body image issues, trauma, and disconnection from their own identities. The practice of creating and wearing waist beads was a powerful way for them to reclaim their bodies, nurture their spiritual well-being, and honor their growth and changes.
This realization was a turning point. I had to pivot. I embraced the idea that ceremonies, rituals, and cultural practices could be deeply healing, I began offering waist bead ceremonies where women could come together, select their beads, and participate in a sacred ceremony of self-affirmation and healing.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Building my audience on social media was never about knowing all the tricks or having the perfect strategy, it was about consistency. For the past five years, I committed to posting three times a day, even when I didn’t fully understand the algorithms or know what kind of posts would get the most engagement. At the time, I didn’t have any fancy tools or shortcuts to grow my following. All I had was a deep belief in my message and the understanding that, if I showed up regularly, people would begin to notice.
At first, the engagement was slow. But over time, I noticed people started recognizing my consistency. They appreciated that they could count on me for valuable content, whether it was tips, personal stories, or inspiration. Slowly but surely, I began to attract an audience who resonated with what I was offering. I wasn’t just sharing posts; I was showing up as a real person, sharing my journey, learning, and growing along the way.
Five years later, that dedication has paid off. My audience has grown organically, not because I knew all the social media “hacks,” but because I built a foundation of consistency, authenticity, and connection.
