We recently connected with Monique Madison and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Monique, thanks for joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I started doing drag in 1996 when I was just 18 years old. I always knew that I was destined for the stage, however I never thought I could make a full time career out of it! Here I am, 27 years later, a professional drag entertainer.

Monique, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Monique Madison and I am from Kalamazoo, Michigan. I own the entertainment group called The Kunty Kittens, I am a house diva at Five15 in Royal Oak, and I am a main hostess/stand up comedian for The Comedy Series. I just published my first novel last November called Serial Showgirl and am currently working on the sequel with my partner in crime Melinda Bryce.
My first movie drops this Christmas and is called ” A Holiday I Do ” written by Melinda Bryce and directed by Paul Schneider.
I am currently filming for The Film Chic Production Company a new comedy mini series called The Agency!!!
And just because I am not busy enough, I also own a hair salon with a full time clientele.
Apparently I love to work!

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Everything I do, I do it for my family. My beautiful husband, our three fur babies, and my Dad. They mean the world to me.

Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I come from a drag industry before the internet, you tube, RuPaul’s Drag Race, and social media. We did everything ourselves with little instruction. Trial by error and mentors in our industry i.e. seasoned queens we refer to as our drag mothers. The guided us and taught us everything we needed to now.
