Monique, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
I believe the keys to success are passion, vision and execution.
Passion leads to a greater sense of purpose and fulfillment in life. If you are truly passionate about what you are doing, I find that it is much easier to stay motivated and consistent. When I founded my business, I focused on something I was already passionate about, art. Art has always been a therapeutic and fun way for me to express myself. Now, I’ve created spaces where I am able to share this healing experience with others.
Vision fuels innovation and allows your creative juices to flow. Being able to visualize what you are trying to create, helps you think outside of the box. Not only does it help streamline processes, but it also helps set yourself apart from competition through your own unique touch. When I launched Fan Love, I was aware that there were other paint party events going on in my area. To set myself apart, I started to think of other things I could incorporate into my events. Another thing I like to do for fun, especially with my family, is karaoke. This led me to the vision of my most popular event, “The Karaoke Paint and Sip”.
Execution brings your vision to reality. I took the time to visualize the flow and setup of this event. I envisioned people painting, singing and bonding together in one setting. Once it all came together and felt right, I created an event link and went live!
This cycle should continue to repeat throughout your business career. Keep the fire of passion strong, be open to the big vision and execute with confidence!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Monique Jones, founder of Fan Love. We are an arts and entertainment business based out of the San Francisco Bay Area. Fan Love was built with the intention of creating a new wave of events that people of all ages would enjoy. We have hosted international livestreams, silent disco parties, movie nights as well as art events. The art events have been our most popular event and also very dear to me.
I naturally gravitated to art at a young age. As I grew into my teenage years it provided me with what I like to call, “a colorful escape”. In my adult years, I began to understand that art was just not a fun hobby of mine, but also a form of therapy. It provides great mental stimulation and stress relief. The feeling of accomplishment once completing your work of art is just the cherry on top!
Most people who come to our paint events have no painting experience. Many are coming to look for a new experience. No stuffy nightclubs or long lines. Everyone is welcomed with a smile and all of the materials they need to let their stress go and creative juices flow. We always have an experienced live artist on site to demonstrate techniques while elevating engagement and interaction with particpants.
I find a great sense of joy and fulfillment being able to share these creative experiences with the community.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I have built my social media audience organically by running ads, email campaigns and by word of mouth. We encourage participants to follow our page and tag us in any pictures or videos they capture. I also create reels with an event recap to showcase real life interactions and flow of our events. Although there is step-by-step instruction from our live artist, we post a reference photo on Instagram for attendees to view. Having this reference photo on hand has been very helpful for participants and also drives more views and engagement to our page. We have been able to capture a good quantity of new followers and stay connected with attendees.
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
While offering a variety of entertainment experiences, I have been able to capture an extensive email list from people who have attended our events. Each month, I create a special promo code that is sent out to previous attendees, offering them huge discounts on upcoming events. Special discounts are also offered to those who may be celebrating a birthday in that month. Keeping customers updated via email and social media has helped us a lot. Even if you have a small idea or new product, it’s always good to keep your followers updated and maybe even ask them for feedback. We do see a lot of return customers by using these tactics!
